Lauralisa,
I am so very touched by this poem. I think it is because I can see myself in it. It literally brought tears to my eyes.
I hope your son continues to express himself in such a poignant way.

my son is fifteen years old.
he is a portrait of conflict.
he has a lot of weird, definition-avoidant neurological problems (adhd, ocd, latent tourettes syndrome.... "those" kinds of things.

bad news again.
my little grand daughter has the pneumonia and other viral infections and is very ill and in the hospital.
this really hurts.
((((((((((Ken, Granddaughter, Mom))))))))))
I certainly know the uncertainly, and fear, that is felt when an ill child requires hospitalization. I've been on the kid end of it too. I was hospitalized at 4 with pneumonia. The care and treatment of kids is so much better these days!
You are all in my thoughts.

After reading this thread, it makes one wonder who in the heck marries all the stupid, humorless, ugly, sexually repressed, uneducated, obnoxious females wandering amongst us.

i know that most of you do not believe that the annointed remnant among jehovah's witnesses is the faithful & discreet slave.. so who is?
jesus did say that this slave (individual or class?
) would be feeding his sheep, so who is doing the job?
To paraphrase:
My uncle warned me of all those bad people that might try and lure me into doing something questionable and bad.
So! In order to keep myself safe from all that is immoral, and not provoke unwanted attention, I shall call myself: SexyTeen!
i saw a report on tv about the church of jesus chrisht of latter day saint and they have a lot in common with the jw.
they go from door to door and as the jw, they believe that they are here to save the world.
do you think that this church will become more popular while the watchtower is losing his popularity?
They didn't talk much about the bible, only the book of mormon
This makes me think of the TV commercials that I see run occasionally.Beautiful scenery is shown and Jesus is spoken of. The importance of the bible is mentioned. Very clever and sneaky. At the end of the ad it is noted at the bottom of the screen that this message is brought to you by The Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints. It just another way the LDS church attempts to lure mainstream christians to their beliefs. The book of mormon is never mentioned. A sort of religious "bait and switch".
Black Mormons couldn't go to heaven until 1970 or somethingI guess this is true in a sense. Now, it has been awhile since I researched the LDS church. So, I am only going on memory. I may have some of the details wrong, but the outcome is the same. Like the polygamy issue, it's another skelton in the LDS churches closet.
Because Mormons teach that all Blacks are descendants of Cain, and that their skin color reflects the mark of Cain, church doctrines denied blacks of the priesthood. That they should be kept separate. Even though they could not become priests, they still could enter "celestial heaven" (the highest level). As long as they were truly converted and served faithfully. However, upon arriving in celestial heaven, they were still expected to serve.
Just like the abolishment of polygamy was directly tied political pressure from the Federal government, and Utah's desire to become a state. The civil rights movement was also the impetus that forced the LDS church to allow Black males to become priests.
In this way, they are very much like the WTS. When a questionable doctrine is publicly exposed, and comes under political pressure to change, the LDS president, suddenly has a revelation. In Witnessland, this is also known as new light.

Though there are similarities, there are also many differences between the JW's and Mormons.
1)All males, regardless of standing in the church, itself, are considered "priests" and can give blessings.
2) Official Mormon doctrine prohibits polygamy. Back in the 19th century, in order to get out from under Federal government control, and for Utah to become a state, the practice of polygamy was banned. The process that lead to this decision, however, is very similiar to the WT's "new light". The banning of polygamy was actually a concession to the Federal government in order for Utah to become a state. For a Latter Day Saint (as they prefer to be called) to practice polygamy means excommunication from the church.
3)The wearing of The Garment. Sort of a long underwear type thing to remind them of their faith and to keep chaste. I'm not sure if many Mormons practice this today. Probably only the very devout.
4)That the founder Joseph Smith, himself, is a prophet.
5)The refraining of drinking carbonated beverages, coffee, and tea.Mormons are considered the most healthy in the American population, and are often used as a control group for medical studies.
6)They believe in three levels of heaven. The top being reserved for "good" Mormons. The middle for "bad" Mormons and the rest of christians. The bottom for whats left over.
7)Mormons, unlike JW's, are very mainstream. In fact, they are very active in law enforcement and government.
8)Strongly encourage higher education. Even building their own universities. All the Mormon kids I knew ALWAYS went to Brigham Young University.
9)Mormons put a very strong emphasis on tithing. A families tithing record is kept track of. It used to be 10%, not sure if it still is. Kinda like how many hours of service a person puts in with the JWs. The more given, the more prestige.
10)Large families are encouraged. More kids, mean more Mormons. Also, they believe that the more children one has, the better chance their is to get into the top level of heaven.
Well, there are more. But, that is some basic differences between Mormons and JWs.
