Meetings are very children unfriendly
by Robert7 ini guess the parents can appreciate this one, and this is a very imporant issue since kids are a huge part of your lifel.... have you noticed that meetings are so not children friendly?
you are expected to keep you children, regardless of age, quiet for 2 hours.
the expectation is that they are as quiet as an adult.

Cain and Abel
by White Dove inwhere did abel get the idea to put something on an alter and offer it to god?
i always wondered where abel got the idea to kill a little baby animal and burn the carcas as a gift to god?
i would have zapped abel on the spot before he could kill the poor creature in his care.

COULD YOU HANDLE LIFE ALONE?
by Mary inif you mate died suddenly or left you, could you handle life alone?
would you remain single or get married again?
i ask this because my brother in law's witness mom just died recently, and we're wondering how his dad is going to handle life alone now.

If I had been married for 60 years I probably wouldn't bother getting married again, but I would still like to have a partner. Being a part of a couple for that long would be hard to give up. That being said, seeing as how I'm only 29, if my husband were to die now I would probably re-marry. Why be alone if you don't have to be?

Would You date a black man or black woman?
by Save My Soul inmy sister-in-law is recently divorced and went to a witness online dating site.
she mentioned that many of the witnesses specified that they wanted a white or latino only.
of course there is nothing wrong with this (personal preference), but i found it interesting.

I would gladly date a Black woman, yes. And I'm not talking about the Euro-looking ones like Halle.. I'm talkin' about a REAL sista.

CHL- Is the mother terminating her rights to the child? Are you being appointed temporary guardianship? Are you adopting him? No matter the case, you have a lot of red tape to go through if you want to be able to insure this child and be able to make decisions for him like say, get his driver's license, etc. Just going and getting him without the proper paperwork could be considered kidnapping or harboring a runaway if she goes nutso and changes her mind. Take all of the proper steps legally.

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES RULES, RUINED JA RULE'S CHILDHOOD
by WTNightmare00 inrap star ja rule blames his familys jehovahs witness roots for ruining his childhood.. .
the im real hitmaker reveals he was never allowed to celebrate birthdays or christmases growing up - and even playing with other children was a problem for his strict grandparents, who helped raise him.. .
as a result, the rapper, real name jeffrey atkins, goes overboard when his children celebrate birthdays and special occasions.. .

Not celebrating birthdays and Christmases sucked, but it certainly doesn't equate with a bad childhood. Not being allowed to socialize with "worldlies" wasn't all that bad either. I guess my JW childhood experience was better than most. Now as an adult things changed, but that's because I was able to see the hypocrisy and lies (oh, and I REALLY wanted to have sex). Still, my childhood was not ruined. My parents did a good job I think.

What motivates a person to start a religion?
by serendipity indoes anyone know of books, magazine articles, etc that explore the motivating factors in the origins of religion?
i'm especially interested in religions started by a single person.
of course, your personal opinions are welcomed.

It's not only deliberately negative reasons. Some people actually believe what they are saying (yes, mental illness) and/or actually want to help others. L. Ron Hubbard, "writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wanted to make a million dollars, the best way to do it would be start his own religion. ~ As quoted in the Los Angeles Times (27 August 1978)
