i completely agree there has to be some evolution and obviously the fossil record in the grand canyon plus erosion shows it must be at least 600 million years old.

I haven't read the other answers so if I'm repeating something.. sorry. Belief in a god and therefore an "afterlife" is a coping mechanism. It helps us to not see life as futile.

What a mess here in Florida!
by restrangled inwhere i live we have received 10 inches of rain within the last 24 hours..... another 12 to 17 hours of the same are expected!, some areas have gotten close to 30 inches.
its crazy...my pool is over flowing, pets won't go out....we're drowning!
i can't believe we haven't lost power yet!.

Are these people for real? I cringe at the JG/wife threads but can't keep myself from reading them. People actually exist that think that atheists have no morals? Look at the prison population, they are UNDERrepresented.
