i stopped going to kh when i was in my early 20's.
i'm now in my mid 40's.
i've done many of the things for which a person should be df'd over the many years since but i don't know whether i am df'd.
Wouldn't that make a good "Questions From Readers" subject?
Perhaps. It depends on if you give any credence to the ''sacred pronoucements'' from the WTS.
And while you consider that, consider this: I have personally seen brothers and sisters going through the rigamarole of reinstatement, only to find the shunning continuing after they were reinstated!! For years!! Never have I witnessed such un-Christian, ungodly behavior before. Perhaps it was just the congregation that I was in -- I don't know. If anyone else has a similar story to tell, please share.

What hoops?
Going to the meetings regularly for several months while being shunned, before your application for reinstatement can even be considered. Having your every action scrutinized even more closely than before your disassociation. And if and when you are reinstated, you will have to re-earn your ''privileges'', such as answering at meetings, giving talks, etc. But I think that that this would apply only to those persons who sent in a DA letter. JW Facts has an excellent article about disfellowshipping and reinstatement.

Makes me wonder what would happen if one walked into meeting and said they da'd some time ago but decided to start associating again.
I believe that the elders would make that person jump through the same hoops that they make a DF'ed person go through, since the Society sees both actions as the same evil.

...that term anymore, so are not disfellowshipped any more, but just no longer a witness, what is that?
i wonder what word it will become to describe these ones and the action taken?
we don't have one yet, but most dubs i know are still saying "he's disfellowshiped" oooo scary.
I will personally call them by name if I ever see one I know.
That's what I do too.

I have the RIGHT to be an asshole. It's given to me by the constitution and the bill of rights!
No argument there.
But once again, you are generalizing. I agree that no one has the right to live on the public dole for their entire life, but try to remember that these goverment programs were put into place to help working families in times of exigency. It doesn't have to be included in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. All westernized countries have similar programs. It's considered being humane. Most (not all) of the people that reside in public housing are the working poor and disabled. I don't mind my taxes going to those programs. I'm not so small-minded as to begrudge a person a helping hand when they need it. Through no fault of my own, I or my family could be in that position one day. Because of unexpected job loss, illness, the death of the family breadwinner(s), most of us could be in that position.
I've got the RIGHT to be a racist, or sexist, or belligerent, or arrogant or whatever I want to be!
Once again, no argument. None at all.
