  SAD news about OOMPA......

  our friend, oompa, has passed away.

  just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.

  it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.

  Oh, dear God.

  Hello everyone. It's been some time since I've posted on JWN. I thought to check in and see how things are going...and I see this.

  Poor Oompa. Even though we did not have any personal contact, he was truly a kind and sensitive person, who loved his family and only wanted the best for them.

  But as we all know, real love is a scarce commodity in Witness-World.

  The tears are streaming down my face as I'm typing this. I wish there was something earth-shaking and immediate that I could do to end this evil cult, but the WTS seems deathless...

  When a person is studying to be a Witness, they're never told about shunning. It's only after someone is baptized, that they really find out about the practice - and this is by design. How many people would willingly join if they knew about the 'loving' tatic of shunning in advance? Very few, of course, because decent people would see it for what it really is...a death sentence.

  Oh Oopma, I'm so sorry that you felt that this was the only way you could achieve peace. I hope we meet one day at the crossroads of eternity and love.

  For the GB, I hope that there is Hell to pay.

  god may provide, but the state may not when it comes to unemployment benefits for employees laid off by churches, synagogues and other religious groups.. carol bronson discovered that a few months ago after she lost her secretarial job at temple emanuel synagogue in virginia beach.

  bronson assumed she could draw unemployment benefits, but when she filed a claim, she was denied.. it was a hard way to learn that under virginia law, as in many states, tax exemptions for religious organizations include freedom from paying unemployment taxes, though the irs requires they pay social security and withholding taxes.. "i had no idea that there would not be any benefits for me after leaving my job," said bronson, who worked at the synagogue for two years.. .

  In New York, for example, employees whose work is not religious in nature, such as a cook or a secretary, are entitled to benefits, and their employer must pay the state unemployment tax, said Karen Williamson of the New York Department of Labor.

  This is great news for many of the Society's ex-Bethelites!

  However, even if they were made aware of this provision, most will not avail themselves of it. Sad.

  Why do JWs think they are "better" than the rest of us?

  why is it that the majority of witnesses seem to think they are "better" than the rest of us... i almost became an unbaptized publisher... i say almost... i was in and out for about 2 years, but always felt that the members of the congregation looked down on me... what is that all about?

  how does that kind of behavior correlate to loving your neighbor and exuding love all the time... they talk about intense love and the condition of your heart... well, if the condition of their hearts is that they think and feel that they are better than everybody else, that just don't jive.... another question... anybody know how to get in touch with ex-jws in their geographic area> it would be great to talk to someone face-to-face :).

  I need a job

  ok, i'm always online looking for jobs in the fashion industry, though there weren't much in that catagory in indiana.

  the pickings are slightly better here in california but most of the jobs are in southland.

  so i'm looking at this one fashion job site that's pretty good and i find that a community college in stockton is hiring fashion instructors.

  alot of you already know about me because he's talked about me on here before...even has posted pictures, at which he incurred my wrath upon my discovery.

  anyways...i'm about to submit my letter of disassociation to my local congregation and i thought i would share it.
