The Biggest B.S. stories you've heard from a talk

a few years ago at a convention, they related a story of a jw who was shot during service.

but rather then stop and get medical attention (like a normal person would have done) they moved on to the next door to finish the street.

when they got to the house the householder just so happened to be a (you guessed it) nurse!

But rather then stop and get medical attention (like a normal person would have done) they moved on to the next door to finish the street. When they got to the house the householder just so happened to be a (you guessed it) nurse! Of course this nurse provided medical attention to the JW until the ambulance came, and was so impressed by their zeal, they wanted to know more about the religion. This lead to them starting a study, and later becaming a witness. COMPLETE B.S. . When I heard the story I was still a believer and even I thought, there is no way in hell this story could be remotely true. Even if for some One in a Billion chance it was even slightly true, then that makes us look like a bunch of fanatics to any outsiders (AKA worldly people) who were there attending!

just had to laugh and shake my head today.. hubby's cousin, an ex-jw too, keeps in touch really well with his folks who are still in.

they moved south to kentucky to where the need was greater along with some others from our old congregation.

one couple, very well loved and sweet as pie, moved to south america to where the need was great again.. recently, the husband, was attacked and beaten nearly to death.

Wow, I that is crazy....If the guy moved down there to serve where the need is greater there is a good chance he is probably a hard liner, but maybe this will make him think. I doubt Beth-Hell would have made those same arrangements for him.

Sad to say, this wasn't very long ago.

I had to drive around many service days in the back seat of a sister's car because she was too paranoid to let me sit in the front. That way, anyone who saw me riding in the back with no one else in the car would just think we were idiots, and not normal people.

When I was younger I used to go out in service on a regular basis during the week when I had summer break. One time when I met for service there were only two other people that showed up. The Brother who conducted the group and this older, widowed, pioneer sister. The brother who was conducting only showed up to conduct but didn't actually go out in service. So of course I got stuck going out with this old lady alone. She was well known for being a hardliner (not taking coffee breaks, going out in dangerously bad weather, getting into religious arguments with householders, etc). Anyway, we walked out of the hall and headed over to my car. I opened the rear driver side door and threw my bag in and got in up on the drivers side front. She opened the rear passenger door, got in, sat down, and closed the door. From the front I turned around and said "Oh, you can sit up front if you like". She declined because she felt it wouldn't be proper for a single brother and sister to sit alone (what would the people in the community think). I thought to myself, "she can't be serious" (since she was in her late 60's early 70's) and I was only 16 or 17. Anyway we went out for entire morning with her sitting in back and me driving her around (Just the two of us). I look back and that still makes me laugh

Young People Ask - Ans/Work - Now that you're older...

i think i was 22 when that book came out.. and i remember the being at the convention remembering how much i appreciated it.. and even at that age - feeling like that book was for me.. but how do you feel about it today?.

i don't have a copy of it anymore, but i do remember it being one of the better books.. thoughts?.

That goes for the girls too. All of th hot JW girls were worldy or spiritually weak. I can glady say my JW GF is both Hot and Spiritually weak.

I hate the CO

so i was talking to my mother the other day, and she was distressed because she was saying that if my little sister isn't baptized or working toward it by the time she's 18 (which is coming up soon) she may have to move out (more then likely she'll move in with me and my girlfriend, or my older sister if that happens).

my little sister is a great kid (high honor roll, no trouble, hard worker, etc), that many parents would be grateful to have.

i asked my mom, why would they take parenting advice from a guy who doesn't (and hasn't) ever had kids?

I guess a better question would be whether anyone knows about the requirements for being an elder. Do your kids have to be baptized if they live at home and are aldults? Or is it you only have to have to step down if they're DF'd and still live with you? Because my lil sis, isn't on restriction or anything like that, (she's not big into service, commenting, or talks, but that's more because of being shy).

I knew ED too, he was a royal "jerk-off", I know for a fact he hated kids (Or at least freethinking ones)! I hate the CO

the elders there don't bother calling me anymore and even if they did, i've moved so far away that they couldn't stop over for a visit anyway.

since i am in a new area now where no jw's even no that i exist, life is pretty good (i can live a normal life without having to look over my shoulder).

However, I heard this and I was wondering if anyone knows if this is true.

Do the elders every year look at the records and try to track down those who are inactive. And if they asked one of my old friends who stills attends that hall about my whereabouts, and they told them (the elders) where I live, they would automatically send my records to the hall in area where I live now and have them track me down for a follow up? Is that true that they will just forward your records without your knowledge?
