if those greater and lesser luminaries were set forth mere thousands of years ago, how did the light even get here by now...? Most of them are too far away in light-years
Simple! God created the stars, and somehow extended light waves from all of them to reach earth, so that we could see stars that APPEAR to be light-years away but were only created several thousand years ago! Oh you of little faith.

I remember hearing this explanation at an assembly. It actually made some sense to me.
Rev. 1:8 says the "Alpha and Omega" is "the one who is and was and who is coming", also is the Almighty.
So that verse would be talking about the Father (Almighty).
Then go to Rev. 1:4,5 -- where John wishes peace to the 7 churches, on behalf of "the one who is and was and who is coming" (the Father), and from "the seven spirits before the throne" (whoever they are), AND -- from Jesus Christ the faithful witness.
So in verses 4 and 5 it can be understood that the A&O (Father) is separate from the seven spirits and from Jesus.
I must confess, I did. In Dubland It is more important to sound good than to be real, and I got caught up in that more than I should have.

Technically she does attend a 'non-denominational church' now. This video shows her speaking at her FORMER church during June of this year.
However she still has sympathy towards the AoG brand of religion, because when she is in Alaska's state capital, she attends the Juneau Christian Center (an AoG-affiliated church).

His removing of contrary comments is quite typical behavior of JW's on YouTube. He's a control-freak, and that points to insecurity.
I will "shun" him now -- he's spouting arrogant cult-speak punctuated by selected proof texts in the context he wants.
i will list a number of my doubts on this subject as it was one teaching that pissed me off - as i feel it caused jehovah's witnesses not to mourn properly at funerals and show authentic compassion to others - as well as held out false hope for a " fantasyland " paradise .
these reasons i list here actually were and are taught by jehovah's witnesses as fact !

I bought the resurrection hope -- lock, stock and barrel, since I was a child. It was all I ever knew.
I agree with Changeling -- the doctrine I couldn't agree with was that the resurrected class couldn't marry again. I thought that would create friction or just weird, uneasy situtations in the Paradise.
I just went to the Memorial Service for my JW grandmother last weekend, and heard a lot of dogma that I now disagree with. The one that stuck out most was "original sin" -- that we all die because we deserve to, due to the original sin of Adam -- and only through 'undeserved kindness' do we have any hope.
I don't think animals die because they 'sin', it's the natural course of events. The same seems to apply to humans.
So there the speaker was implying that my sweet lovable grandmother (who served the WTS for 64 years) deserved to die.
