last april, i was waiting on my patio with my dog, patch listening to ladonnas greatest hits, when something amazing happened; an englishman i know called simon from kent who is also achristain and a deep thinker rem-embered my borg free aniversary, and said, "i thought it would be logical to bring you some bitter mango, lilacs and flowers, but don't go ballistic - i forgot your billy goat, but you do look closer2fine.

this was my first time talking to my df'd aunt since i found out the truth about the 'lie'.
i gotta tell you things are really different now.
i almost wanted to get on my knees and beg for forgivness for the way she has been treated by my family for so many years but i was at her place of work.
Flower,
It surprises us, but really it shouldn't, how nice the so-called "worldly" relatives can be! After all, they haven't been given a template against which to measure us, no, they treat us like ordinary people would! So I hope you've forgiven yourself for not being close to your aunt for those many years, because almost surely she has! Just enjoy this year and the years to come!!
Like you, my JW parents are lost to me. Sigh. It's been a challenge to fill in the gap, but I'm enjoying life so much more. And if my parents want me, they sure know where I am!!

* that anyone can respond to even if they weren't born in, or even if they never were in the borg.
the question is;.
"when do you first remember realising that you were a jw, and that the rest of the world wasn't?!.
Dana,
My God that's awful! What a form of abuse inflicted by your aunt. Didn't anyone at your hall care about you kids? Or maybe they were too intimated by your mean old aunt!
The stuff that goes on inside Kingdom Halls (in the name of a loving Father??) geez.

we know the wt society has a long history of prophecies, especially regarding dates.
almost 100% of such prophecy was in error.. it seems though, that they got a date right by foretelling that 1914 would be "the end of the world as we know it".
yes, they changed the meaning of 1914 several times.
Gambler,
CT Russell got the 1914 idea from the Adventists. He formerly was a close associate of theirs, before forming Zion's Watch Tower Inc. (or whatever it was first called).

seeing that most of those on this forum love to judge others (although the complaint is that jws do the same thing), i am willing to go through a judicial committee.. if you see fit not to forgive, please disfellowship me and shun me.
SexyTeen,
You said "most of those on the forum love to judge others".
Okay, so you just judged us! You can disfellowship us too, I guess. (I thought I was nice in the only post I made to you. Oh well)

good morning!.
hi was just wondering who are still active in the organization and do you have doubts?
those of you who have left, briefly what made you leave, do you have any regrets, and was it hard making new friends?.
Struggle,
I was DF'd in April 2000, and it took me until November 2000 to finally stop attending all meetings. So I understand the indecision you feel, about whether or not to come back. I thought about coming back for a few months.
Then I realized that the organization is a harsh place, and the people do not practice the love that they claim to. Then when I read Ray Franz's book Crisis of Conscience that put an end to all fantasies I had about JW's being the one true organization of God.
Have you read that book yet? It is a truthful personal account of this man from the Governing Body who saw how decisions were made by the Governing Body, adversely affecting the lives of millions of followers.
In addition, several of the points made by Outnfree in her post on this thread -- I came to realize as true.
Once you make the break, you'll find friends on the outside (and already have found them, I see) who will not judge you but will like you or love you for who you are!! The advantages to leaving and staying outside the organization are endless. Go back, and you'll be a slave again.

i would like some brief stories of people saying the reasons they joined jw organisation.
where you already in another church, were you disillusioned, were you biblically illiterate?
and if it is possible, please let me know where you come from, hoping you're not all from usa.
Same as Nelly. Parents were/are loyal dubs.
I was baptized at 16, at the time thoroughly convinced that JW's had all the answers. Oh did I get baptized at the same time one of my sister's cute friends did? Just a coincidence.

From the earliest year in school, kindergarten, I was not allowed to share in the holiday and birthday celebrations that the other kids had. And then from first grade (on through sixth grade), came the daily embarrassment known as "not sharing in the pledge of allegiance" to the American flag.

Thanks to Alan, indireneed, runningman and Derek. You have presented a well-rounded view and helped put 1914 in perspective. Quite a lot of JW theology has been built around that date, which they claim to have arrived at with the help of divine guidance! In reality, 1914 is just another in a series of failed WT Society predictions.

Sleepy,
The JW-defender would tell you, in Matthew 24 it tells about wars in one place after another being a last-days sign. So the fact that this was the first all-world war would (in the mind of a JW) line up with 1914 starting off the last days.
