UK Kingdom halls situated in terrible areas
by excito-are inas some one who who has travelled britian well, i must make known an observation.
almost all kingdom halls are in really bad areas.
fron travelling around scotland i see in edinburgh, glasgow, kilbrinie, bellshill , hamilton, kirkcaldy, glenrothes, methil, dundee, aberdeen, inverness, the halls are in a terrible place where unemployment is rife, drug taking common place and just downright poverty and crime is seen.

Well you could say the same things about some churches why are they in deprived areas.
Well I live in Merseyside, England , near Liverpool. Often called a "deprived" area.
But the Kingdom Halls I have been in round here are not in what I would call "deprived" areas.
Most of them seem to be in areas you could term "middle class" there may a couple that are in a rundown area.
If there has been a new KH built you usually find that they "upgrade" to a better area.
Also you have to remember many of the socalled "deprived" areas where at one time, maybe when the KH was built.
A very good area to live in, but over the years the area has rundown.

Anecdotal evidence for atheism
by hamilcarr inbelievers on this board repeatedly claim subjective experience as a major source for their belief.
this anecdotal evidence can't be checked by science because it falls outside the empirical realm.. what about atheism?
would it be possible that an atheist too has had a personal experience that convinced him of the non-existence of god?

I have noticed that the post I put on JWN has come up on JWD also.
I have recently received the following questions. Anyone in UK, or anyone, have and idea on them, or know of any information.
What is the law regarding this in the UK at the moment?
If, for example, a JW with a no blood card was in hospital and unconscious after an accident, and needing blood, could his spouse give consent for a transfusion in his place?
Would/could the medical staff be sued with assault?
Would they still even try and attempt to give a transfusion in the light of the fact that he already has a card saying no blood?
thanks for any help. (Also posted on JWN)

Prove the Truth to yourself.
by integ ina sister from my "congregation" has a bible study, and this study had compiled a boatload of questions about russell, the wt history, and incongruencies etc.
and the sister told her that she refuses to answer the questions and that they are apostate teachings.
she told the study that "it isn't up to me to prove the truth to you, you need to prove the truth to yourself".. as another poster put up the topic of "doesn't it blow your mind?

This is what JWs are now running up against. People with access to a huge amount of information on the Watchtower.
They are so untrained on how to deal with this, the majority of JWs never having come across some of the information themselves or even heard of most of it.
So they just tell people its all lies by "apostates"
I wish access to such information had been available in 1971. Then I wouldn't have wasted the next 30 years of my life.

As I looked at the site. I got the feeling someone is having some fun here at JWs.
Just something about it does not seem right. I have seen other sites selling JW stuff and they are just boring stuff for use on ministry or meetings.
No one with things like ties, tops, etc.
If it is genuine and aimed at JWs then whoever put it on has no idea how JWs think.
PS: How just gone through the selection of stuff on the site. I would say most if not all would not be looked on favourably by Elders.
I can see the reaction if a brother turns up at the KH with a tie with "Mic handler" on it.

Did you know? Jah and Jesus are present invisibly at the meetings.
by Trevor Scott inlooking for thoughts on this statement.
given that wt doctrine holds that jah is not omnipresent, and jesus is of course just a lowly angel who doesn't even have "holy spirit" at his disposal let alone omnipresence, how can it be said they are "present invisibly" at the meetings?.
since they are not omnipresent and can't be at every meeting, how can it be said that by not attending meetings jws are "snubbing them"?.

On Matt 18:20 which reads
Jesus says:
"For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them" NIV
"For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst." NASB
"For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them." Amplified Bible
"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." KJV
In whose name are they supposed to have gathered together?

From the Watchtower article:
The Scriptures, likewise, do not condemn birth control. From a Biblical point of view, then, whether a husband and wife choose to use some nonabortive method of contraception is really a personal decision
So if a couple should decide to exclude the possibility of a pregnancy by using some form of contraception, that is their choice to make, and no one should judge them.—Romans 14:4 10-13
Then why did they reverse their teaching on vasectomy and say any brother who had one was not eligible to me a MS or Elder.
If its the couple decision "and no one should judge them"

My family and I got "shepherding" calls when we didn't need them.
Then when I did really need them they were nowhere to be seen.
I recall one sister saying that in the 22 years she had been in the congregation she had never had one visit.
