So God kills them so that they can be in Heaven with Him?
You'd have to ask Him :)
Whatever happens, we all have to go some time (unless Christ comes first)!

Stephen
this is mainly a question for bible believers.
but of course anyone can chime in.
how do you justify the differences between the way god acts in the ot and the very different way he acts in the nt.

new testament scholar james dunn has written a new book called did the first christians worship jesus?
the new testament evidence.
his answer to the question is a qualified no.. http://www.amazon.com/did-first-christians-worship-jesus/dp/0664231969/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=utf8&qid=1284146996&sr=1-1.
Amen!
i want to hear about the efforts that have been made to rebuild babylon, and what you all think of it.
i am completely fascinated with it, and am anxious to hear your viewpoints on it.
i thirst for your opinions with backup!!
I guess Babylon in Revelation will be physical as well as spiritual.
One thing for sure, it has nothing to do with the WT teaching!

I agree with Thomas, Jesus is "my Lord and my God".
I also agree with John, Jesus is God John 1:1
I also agree with David, Jesus is God Hebrews 1:8
I also agree with Isaiah, Jesus is "God with us" Matthew 1:23
I also agree with Paul, Jesus is in very nature God Philippians 2:6
Any "a god", "divine" or other nature of Jesus talk is plain wrong IMHO.

leavingwt Yeah, that's the thing, isn't it? Those toddlers drowned in the Flood were guilty of horrendous sins. They were disgusting to God.
Who says? Who says they aren't in heaven right now?
God is just. I am sure everyone gets a chance.
With regards to the thread question, God is immutable i.e. He cannot change! Hebrews 13:8, Malachi 3:6 If you are perfect then you cannot change.
OK, why all the destruction and the judgement in the OT? Sure, it is pretty heavy. There is ONE reason for all this. To show the weight of judgement against sin under the law.
You will find mercy in the OT, but that is not the overriding focus.
Clearly in the NT mercy is freely available through Christ. He brings freedom from sin and the condemnation the sinner is under the holy law.
Yes, there is judgement still in the NT (as LWT has pointed out) but mercy and grace is available to all. Death brings everlasting judgement or everlasting liberty.
2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.
46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

PSacramento Jesus is also worshiped, just not as God.
What?!
28 Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,
"Let all God's angels worship him." 7 In speaking of the angels he says,
"He makes his angels winds,
his servants flames of fire." 8 But about the Son he says,
"Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever,
and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy."
9 Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him.
8 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'"
So if Jesus said only God is to be worshipped, why would He allow people to worship Him? Surely the only viable answer is Jesus is God?

do some jw's go to heaven?
i read both of ray franz's books, and i was left with the impression that in his opinion, being a christian and being a jw were not necessarily mutually exclusive.
some of my christian coworkers have also expressed similar thoughts, when they say that there are "christ's brothers" within many different denominations.
wannabefree Of course, there is nothing that is "acceptable to God" save those who have been redeemed by the blood of His Son.
6 All of us have become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;
we all shrivel up like a leaf,
and like the wind our sins sweep us away.
The whole phrase "acceptable to God" is WT speak. Their false gospel is salvation through works, making oneself acceptable, cleaning up one's act. A leopard can't change its spots and neither can pigs keep themselves clean.
15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation.
6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
So ask the Spirit what to do. Live according to Him and His desires. He will show you the way forward :)

There is very little to separate JWs and mainstream Christians when you pare it down to scriptural language.
Maybe, but those counterfeit bank notes are worthless when you take them to the bank.

we do not pretend honour and worship are the same word to prove our point!
Hence the WT revised the NWT bible
In the original NWT edition, Jesus was "worshipped". Subsequent versions have "obeisance" substituted in respect of Jesus but not "Jehovah".
Check the original greek and you will see that proskuneó is indeed the same word for worship used in respect of the Son or the Father. Clearly, the WT are not following John 5:23 but they own agenda in demoting Jesus.

...the narcissism of small differences.
I find the differences HUGE!
For the WT, Jesus is "a god".
For myself, Jesus is God.
There is NO bigger difference than that.
