Hi,
Sorry-I meant to add this!
"(A Conversation After Death)"
This is my reason for it being unscriptural.
Hebrews 9:27 (New International Version)
27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment
Whether that is important depends on it you believe the Bible is important?
All the best,
Stephen

Hi journey-on,
"It wasn't intended to be "scriptural"....It was intended to be spiritual."
It is my belief that the Bible is spiritual. i.e deals with the human spirit and and soul.
In some ways the story is close to the account of Ian McCormack which as he discovered after the experience, was wholly scriptural.

What do you think about Demons now?
by tooktheredpill inhi guys!.
as many of you know, i'm still inside the borg, but my mind is completely disconnected.
i had a chat with some friends during the week, and they started sharing experiences they had, dealing with demons in the past.. i heard some stories from brothers from cuba, that used to be mediums or "saints", and how the demons "immediately started to attack them when they started learning the truth(tm)".

Hi,
I am in the minority of posters here who have no problem with believing the Bible when it says
Ephesians 6:12 (New International Version)
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
If you believe in God then if seems obvious there must be a spiritual evil forces too, open any newspaper.
The enemy likes to operate covertly but you can see them manifest from time to time.
I would not go looking for them in the occult, witch doctors, witches, Ouija boards, seances, spiritualists, mediums and the like but if you do you will encounter the manifestation of spiritual dark forces. After all, these type of things have been happening worldwide since time began.
Far better to go an look for the Creator I say, than anything He created.
The other tactic is to demonise everything and everyone, in classic Watchtower style and thus discredit demons have people believe than an enemy does not exist.

Baptism Into the Organization
by AlanF intoday's remarks about the wts's 1985 baptismal vows reminded me of.
an incident an elder recently told me about.

Hi Uncany,
"Therefore, I rate my baptism as fully legal and acceptable to God."
The Bible says to believe and then be baptised?
So are you sure that what you have believed is acceptable to God?
John 1 (New International Version)
12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of natural descent,[c] nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
Acts 4:12 (New International Version)
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
Have a read of the passages where these verse come from if you want to know what name that is.

Hi,
Good stuff, thought provoking.
Although not perfectly scriptural (people will reside in Hades until judgement time and that is when the questions will start).
Have a listen to Ian McCormack's story. He experienced Hades and Heaven after a near death experience.

Hi,
"Everything is based on the bible -it isnt. Prodigal son was welcomed back with open arms and a party was thrown for him. A person being reinstated has to be, be humiliated for 6 months, and then there is no applause or anything - totally ANTISCRIPTURAL. Now that is dumb"
Yes great point, I agree! I like the term ANTISCRIPTURAL too-kind of sums the WT up ;)

Hi,
"Someone commented about using the name Jehovah:
Even the Catholic Church acknowledges "Jehovah"."
Yes I am not denying the name. However, I have it in my Bible only four times though!
See here for more info.
http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/dictionaries/dict_meaning.php?source=1&wid=T0002017
I have "LORD" and "Lord" 6712 times though!
LORD comes from the Hebrew YHWH. Lord from Kurios in the Greek.
Also there are many other names of God.
So taking into account Exodus 3, it seems clear that the name Jehovah is probably not paramount.
However, one name in the Bible is paramount ("the name that is above every name").
Philippians 2:8-10 (New International Version)
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth

My First Witness to a Witness
by Cold Creek Swimmer inso, i don't start many topics here, but i felt this needed to be shared.
i had just landed at the airport and was walking out of the concourse when i noticed a stand that had been set up by an obviously married older witness couple.
they were very patiently waiting behind their counter covered with the latest publications.

Hi CCS,
"I did however still make the point that the basic bible truth hasn't changed in 2500 years, but the religion they are part of has completely changed in 150 years. I told them that today if I were a witness and believed as witnesses did in 1918, I would be disfellowshipped for apostasy."
Excellent!
Happy witnessing :)

Hi,
"I see the question in the subject heading of this post the same way I see the following questions:
Can a Christian woman cut her hair?
Can a Christian woman wear pants?
Should a Christian womah show her ankle?
Should a Christian woman work outside the home?
Can a Christian man shave his beard?
Can a Christian drink alcoholic drinks?
I have, personally, heard these issues being seriously debated by different Christians. What is considered "moral" Christian behavior varies widely from culture to culture and denomination to denomination. Some people would no expose their legs or their elbows in public than they would their genitals. It's all a matter of degree."
There is a fundamental difference between these questions and the question of nakedness. A person can do any of those things mentioned and walk the streets of most cities on this earth but if they walk naked then a crowd will form like nothing else.
The clues are here.
Gen 2:25 The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
Then this happened.
Gen 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
Right after cursing them for disobedience, the next thing God made them clothes to cover their shame.
Gen 3:21 The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.
A minority of people feel no shame about their own public nudity but the majority certainly would.
Regards,
Stephen
