will you take responsibility for yourself?
will you give yourself to our lord?.
or will you follow man?.
will you take responsibility for yourself?
will you give yourself to our lord?.
or will you follow man?.
It is interesting that God said this to Noah long after Adam was dead.
English Standard Version (ESV)
6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man, will you take responsibility for yourself?
will you give yourself to our lord?.
or will you follow man?.
Band on the Run I don't think this sort of knowledge is that important compared to accepting grace.
Agreed!
I call myself Christian b/c my tradition upholds Christ as God. I can't say a Hindu or Buddhist is worse. Perhaps they have a different but just as valid path.
I liked the way this started! However, according to Jesus' own testimony it finished very badly :( John 14:6, John 10
A more humble person might believe they could never be the Elect.
I find being elected only increases my humility. When I spoke at length to two elderly JW ladies but the gospel fell on deaf ears I asked the Lord what to do. He told me to read 1 Peter 2 . As I read verses 9 and 10 I wept. "What did I do to deserve it?!" was my question. "Absolutely nothing" is the answer!
When you hear the call, come to the Living Stone, believe on Him!
Avoid taking offense like those who stumble over Jesus, and disobey the simple message of salvation.
Blessings in Jesus,
Stephen

Cool!
I first saw the story on the Sid Roth show. I have heard or read numerous testimonies regarding those that have been there, what they have seen, done and felt. Aslo, how it affected them when they returned.
This account spoke of many things that others had spoken of and other more personal, unique things.
I recently bought the book for my brother's birthday. I am looking forward to hearing his review :)

to be fair, translating the bible is a huge undertaking, and in doing so, there are bound to be mistakes, or even limits to a committee's knowledge.
obviously, we cannot read the hearts of the four translators of the new world translation committee to know when they consciously or subconsciously altered renderings in to support doctrinal bias.
but more and more, i do come across things that feel askew to me.
maksym NWT of John 1:1 is horrendous.
Agreed! When I first started exploring the NWT the Spirit told me to take a read of that one :)
Interestingly, Hebrews 1:8 is all about the same issue. The whole chapter is a blast!
The first example of WT bias is in the very first verse of the NWT bible, or at least John's 1:1 revelation regarding it.
The second example it in the very second verse, and pertains to the Holy Spirit.
English Standard Version (ESV)
2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Every version says either the "Spirit of God" or "God's Spirit", save the NWT. Check the Hebrew and it is clear, none of the words should be translated "active" or "force", certainly not for a version claiming to be the "most accurate". http://biblos.com/genesis/1-2.htm Now check later in same book and the NWT agrees! http://www.watchtower.org/e/bible/ge/chapter_041.htm NWT Genesis 41:38 So Phar´aoh said to his servants: “Can another man be found like this one in whom the spirit of God is?” Same words in the Hebrew http://biblos.com/genesis/41-38.htm, now rendered "spirit of God" in the NWT! Just keep looking and you won't find "active force" anywhere else in the NWT! Here's the next few which are also correctly rendered "spirit of God" and show "active force" to be completely false. http://www.watchtower.org/e/bible/ex/chapter_031.htm http://www.watchtower.org/e/bible/ex/chapter_035.htm http://www.watchtower.org/e/bible/nu/chapter_024.htm Now why would the NWT do such a thing? http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=john14&version=ESV http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Corinthians+2&version=ESV Blessings, Stepheni think it's a given that most of us who have left, have had dreams about still being jw's or doing jw related things, even years after we left.
i had one of those last night.
it involved getting a hotel for the next district convention and then it skipped ahead to when i was attending.
yellow Another dream I had before D/A was I `m in a morgue lying on a trolley, barely alive, the morgue is filled with trolleys with dead bodies and black sheets covering them. I`m the only one with a white sheet covering me. This elder comes in takes away the sheet and rapes me. I say to myself "thats it finished its all over" and I walk away.
Clearly the dream came true! The "white sheet" is all good :)

Stephen

Awesome thread! Great dreams here all round :)
Actually, just last night I had one, and like yours, I also had the beard I have now and felt akward. But it took a very strange twist. Everyone at the hall was drinking alcohol. In fact, they were passing them out during the meeting like flight attendants. People were drinking rum and coke, rum and juice, and beer. Then there was this part where a military officer walked in and put his hand on the Bible and started reciting an oath while the whole congregation repeated after him. The oath was also written in the back of the old song book and those that didn't know it, could just follow along. I can't remember what the oath said though. I woke up saying "What the hell was that?!?!"
Of course, JWs are all getting drunk at the meetings on the spirits served by the WT!
The military officer actually shows plainly what occurs every week. JWs are reciting the oaths from the [WT] bible which is in the [WT] song book. In fact, everyone is just following along!
In the army, you don't question, you just do in blind obedience without thinking.
It would be nice to know what particular "oath" was being recited but of course, it doesn't actually matter, it is the symbolism of the parable depicted which is important. No doubt the oaths are all about allegience to and serving the "slave"?

Stephen

Other than that I just get panic attacks at night thinking the devil's going to come after me or something, something crazy like that. I've only been out a few months now, I hope it gets better soon.
Funny thing though? I never have nightmares about church now that I've been going for a month now =P
