since i'm planning to write a letter to the bethel branch here i'm wondering if you guys used your real name and address (which i think you didn't)coz i'm quite hesitant in doing this..since i'm still in this might cause my dfing or questioning and i would not want that..do you think that it would be ok to use my friend's (non-jw) address and make the letter anonymous?? since i live in a small country and being that almost everyone knows everyone my address would definitely be recognized..

opinion on judgement day...what u think?
by gotcha ini was thinking that based on the way god judged adam and eve as well as lot and his fam i can see that he only asked them to perform a seemingly easy task such as dont eat from that tree and don't look back..this seemingly easy task would actually be a symbol of one's radical obedience or rejection of him...so i think that maybe the next judgement day...god would ask us to do a seemingly easy task that would embody what our real feelings are toward him...and maybe all religions are like tools....they could actually help/put u down in terms of faith or get you ready for this final question..just like a class which gets you ready for the final exams....i dunno if this makes sense..oh well just an opinion...do any of you know about the catholic perspective of fundamental orientation/commitment?--mch

true true...though i prefer to call the judgement fire - conscience...conscience operates in 3 levels....the superego (instinctive level), moral/ethical, then the christian....well the superego basically operates based on fear of punishment while moral/ethical recognizes the value in doing something which is good...christian obviously has something to do with grace...i think that though there are a lot of people who are becoming more self-centered i still believe that they are still some who do care....
mike..im wondering are u involved with any other religion at the moment? -

thanks....i am not actually afraid of judgement day or whatever u may call that day coz i think of it as being judged then if God thinks that you're not good enough then maybe you'll die..or something....death for me is actually even more ok than living..i mean living is fine but death ends it all ...all the pain..and if ever (if ever) the jw's perception of death is true then it's even better coz even if i have a pretty good life i think that there's no point...i still couldnt find meaning in studying then working then having a family then being stable then come sickness...death..and even if there's everlasting life..what's the point..i find rest in death...that's what i think..........the question is why did God create us..was He bored.....according to what i've learned in theo..it's God's overflowing love that made us...i dunno...
for mike....so this judgement...may we call it conscience? -

Question: ex JW cultural psychology
by Celtic inone or two of you i know have studied psychology.
those of you that have, and perhaps this applies to sociologists here too, have noted any differences in psychological makeup of ex witnesses between different countries cultures?.
many postings are usa.

i think that there are also people from other countries who will be quite intereseted in ex-jws but maybe internet is not that accessible as compared to the countries you've mentioned....with regard your question, i think that there's this longing for truth and happiness which most people thought could be found in religion that's why there's a tendency to be hung up on religion (like me). we want to have specific answers for questions that could not really be answered......

faith in a community
by gotcha inis it possible to exercise your faith without joining a religion?...i asked the same question to my professor in theology and her response was...as human beings we have this nature of being social so it's always in a community that you could exercise your faith..there's not such a thing as "individualistic" faith because it is within a community that your faith can grow...what do u think?
thanks.

gotcha
thanks for your replies..i haven't checked this forum coz i was so busy with school stuff...it's true what you guys said but faith because it is personal yet social..i think it is a personal decision and one that comes from the heart when u choose to believe and hold on to that something. but also since we are social beings sometimes we can show our faith in the things we do, not only by going to church but also by helping others....but it seems to me that after growing out of that ethical and moral aspect of faith there's also this calling for a sense of responsibility to fulfill our christian obligations...but......obligations in a sense that we don't feel forced to go to church but because we want to.......hmm it's really so hard to grow out of the christian tradition because ..even before my mom became a jw we were always going to mass and studying in a catholic school all my life has in a way influenced my beliefs...the thing is..i really find sense in going to church/temple/place of worship coz i feel that for all the things that God has given us it's like a gesture of thankfulness in our part. although i believe that you could show thanks in other ways i feel the need to go to some place of worship...but i do think that 3x a wk is a bit too much...peacee...
