  First rock concert

  i have recently talked with other members on jwd about the first time they went to a concert.

  it was interesting the different choices of artists, and the age we were when we finally went to one.. my first was after i got my driver's license, so i was 16 years old.

  i went to see a concert with black oak arkansas, foghat, and montrose (when sammy hagar was just a pup).

  what is happening to the kingdom halls?

  where you live, are they declining or prospering?

  you may hear claims of revival, and reports of swelling congregations occasionally come from such places as africa, eastern europe, and the united states.

  unfortunately there is much growth here in georgia. In the past 7 years our congration has split 2 times and they are curently looking for land so as to build another hall. The growth is not so much people becoming JW's, it is all the people moving into the area. There are countless familys from new york and new jersey that have relocated here. The main reason they all give is the cost of living is so good here. In addition, they like the climate. I have not attended now in 6 months but the last time I was there I hardly recongized anyone. There are so many new ones.

  Why do you HATE to cook?

  me, i love cooking.

  hearing someone say "i hate to cook" is like hearing "i hate being literate," or "i hate being able to walk.

  " i just don't get it.. but there must be reasons - enlighten me, ok?.

  There is too much emphasis put on food. This is esp true in the witness org. There is always an occasion for food, can you make something for the visiting speaker(bookstudy hospilitality), ffed the c.o., feed the d.o., feed the pioneers for pioneer school, food when there is hall maintaince. It is no wonder the majority of JW are fat.

  I prefer to eat samll meals throughout the day. A piece of fruit is a meal, some cheese is a meal. It does not have to be a big cooked meal. Ther eis more to life than cooking and cleaning the kitchen. My husband feels the same way. We spend our free time playing, not in the kitchen slaving away. We are fit and trim!!!!!!!!! Iam a size 6 and proud of it.

  Things You HATED About Being a JW

  there were a few things that i hated about being a witness.. i love music and live concerts.

  quite often i'd have to play my music privately or hide an album cover for fear it might "stumble" someone.

  i hated worrying whether someone was going to somehow get "stumbled.. regarding going to concerts, it seemed that certain artists only came to town on a meeting night and i'd miss the shows.. what did you hate about being a jehovah's witness?.

  EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I esp hated the way many of the men(ones of leadership) treated women. We were treated as possessions for them to use and abuse.

  there were gasps after watching this.

  i heard the anti college talks at the dc this year, and while many people i know didnt agree with them, this following video stunned many of them.

  there are many people on this forum, many have gotten to where they are many different ways.

  Drug Study In The UK !!!!!!!!

  i watched the horizon programme on bbc last night and it was an eye-opener.

  a scientific study listed britain's 20 most used dangerous drugs in order.

  not only did it show that the old classification system of illegal drugs is not a true representation, it shows that so-called legal drug such as alcohol and tobacco are high up on the list above some illegal drugs and result in many more deaths.

  I highly doubt they would ban alcohol. I cannot tell you how many meetings I have attended and smelled liquor on peoples breath. Iam sure they were self medicating so they could make it through another boring meeting. If they did ban it the hall would be full of tea totlers because they will not give it up.

  they claim that once you surf the internet, even if it's done innocently, it's the beginning of the end.

  yes, yes, and yes. The internet opened my eyes and reaffirmed the feeling I had about the wts. I bought ray franzs two books COC and In Search of Christian Freedom. Iam reading the later book now and I do recommend it, a very good read.
