onesong: no problem. Interesting Einstein quotes. Einstein was perhaps humble, but 'arrogance' isn't indeed a terrible thing for such a mind :).

tetrapod: Einstein did explain a lot about his concept of "God"; he explained enough for anyone interested to know exactly what he felt. There appeared to be some change in the expression of those views with progressign age. And, unlike his views on Socialism (which views have perhaps been quite successfully 'supressed' by the American press), his view about God are perhaps only confusing when one reads excerpts from quotes.

It's important to understand Einstein's view on God (or, shall one write "God"). Einstein's God represented a system that's orderly, ruled by rules which are discoverable by those able to continue searching for them. Several times in his letters he made this clear. Einstein did remark ‘Subtle is the Lord, but malicious He is not', but his explanation of this is that ‘Nature hides her secret because of her essential loftiness, but not by means of ruse’; that may begin to make clear Eisntein's continued use of the word "God". Einstein's God is intangible and impersonal (he did comment that the idea of a personal God is childish), very different from the concept of God that's perhaps well known. He at a time described his position on the issue of "God" as an agnostic, but this doesn't make any one escape being classified as either a theist or an atheist. He also resented people quoting him to support the view that there is no God. Since one is either an atheist or a theist, it takes just a tiny bit of reading between the lines to see where Einstein stood.

Einstein crediting his insights to God? Which God is what? You've got references? Should be interesting. I don't understand Einstein to believe in a personal god.

FREELOADER PIONEER SISTER USING MY STUFF BUT I GET YELLED AT!

my mom's got this pioneer sister friend who stays at our house every weekend (she stays in some remote town that's far away from the hall) and i go into my bathroom cabinet this morning and she used up half the bottle of daily oil control cream for my face i had in there.

i mean ladies, you already know how expensive those things are!

and i would always just use a pint size amount so the bottle was filled to capacity.

is it killing 70000 innocent israelites because the king david does a counting of the people?

(it is hard to keep the numbers right if the fluctuate so much).

Quotes Mirror Sites: Attempt at Making a Single Place to Report Sites

it appears that the work around for the quotes site will be a long term effort.

as the wt plays whack-a-mole with the new sites that pop up, we need to know where the new ones pop up.. so here is my attempt to bring some order to this process.

let's make this a running thread where we put all our links to the mirror sites.. the downside is that the wt will know where to go to find out where the new sites are they have to squash.. the upside is that it is alot easier to put a site up then it is for the wt to take them down!!!.

Looks like it was handed over to the law firm; Ms Maher must work there...

But one never knows, the firm may want to hussle the WTS for more website shut-down jobs, and email to Ms. Maher could let them know cones of Quotes 're all over the place now

greetings.. i have started a project that i hope will stay online for times indefinate, even to times indefinate.

you can find it at www.reexamine.org .. i started working on it in october and it is still a work in progress, however because of the shut down of the website located at http://quotes.watchtower.ca i felt that i should release the site in "as-is" condition, instead of waiting until it was completely finished.. currently, there isn't a lot of content in the 'wiki' section of the website.

hopefully in the next few days and weeks that will change, however there are still programming issues that i have to work out before that can happen.

Is the Watchtower Society strong enough to win this war with the internet?

could it be that the wts actually thinks it can win this war?

i mean, they are forcing sites to close down, suing the people that run them etc.

i wonder if this is the way they want to "handle" the internet problem.

The WTS will win some battles, but evening winning a few court battles is effectively losing, as they're fast learning from their recent brush with Quotes.

A JW caught the Quotes news from nowhere, sent a mail to a group, and I replied with the details; the others in the group have never heard of the Quotes Site, and have been arguing that it's impossible for the WTS to shut down a site that offers no criticism of JW doctrine; it'll be interesting to see how it ends, this ongoing discussion. Even the WTS can surprise the most zealous, seemingly brain dead JW . They can run, but they can't hide.

P.S.: does anyone know if Quotes (Peter Anthony Mossier) was ever a JW ? Was he disfellowshipped or did he dissociate himself? I need this information as one of the JWs has asked to know. I wish to supply the correct information; obviously, he won't be checking the "work" of an apostate... the only snag is that there's nothing original by Quotes himself, they're all the WTS words; we'll soon get round to that argument...
