God as editor/Jesus directing FDS

last night, the opening of the mailbox revealed the may 15,2001 watchtower.

my initial instinct was to drop it in the garbage on the way to the house, but i would have had to walk around the house to do it and my hands were full.

i don't normally read them,but of late with all the "choice morsels" from the past coming out , i just wanted to flip through and see where they are heading now..........and see if any gems of gold existed inside.

Who controls the organization, who directs it? Who is at the head? A man? A group of men? A clergy class? A pope? A hierarchy? A council? No, none of these. How is that possible? In any organization is it not necessary that there be a directing head or policy- making part that controls or guides the organization? Yes. Is the living God, Jehovah, the Director of the theocratic Christian organization? Yes!

Looking at that box on Page 29 of the Feb 15 2001 WT issue, the words "program" or "programs" are used some six times before the last six lines where the connection is drawn with WT literature. The preceeding argument was for computer programs, while the conclusion centered on the Society's (copyrighted) material. It was as if the law applying to the program/s applied to the materials. As Simon's post as shown, this is entirely false.

The Remnant Watchtower

this week's watchtower study article (feb 15 p23) should be re-named "the remnant manifesto"!.

a subliminal message centered on the use of the word "remnant" runs right through the article.. para 5: "a faithful remnant in ancient judah were to benefit.".

para 6: "so jehovah prospered the faithful remnant...".

Page 26, parag 13 line 4 says

This sentence seems to be an incomplete thought. It would seem that it is no more the bible that shows but history. History! When that began was not stated. Quite untypical. Is 1935 going away? How history (secular?, scriptural?) does show that we do not know.

in the bizarre world that exist within the watchtower society headquarters in brooklyn you can find all kinds of strange statements.

particularly funny is the use of the expressions indisputable/physical facts.

according to the watchtower from 1922, indisputable facts showed that jesus second presence began in 1874!

Larc, other ones are "apparently", "clearly", "likely", and "very likely". They all prepare the ground for speculation that is presented as fact.

do you believe that someone learns from past...experience?.

there was a measure of disappointment on the part of jehovah's faithful ones on earth concerning the years 1914, 1918, & 1925, which disappointment lasted for a time.... and they also learned to quit fixing dates.

(vindication i, 1938, p 338).

'Twas also predicted that the preaching work will end within the last century., That was another end-of-the-world prediction that didn't see the light of day; and it was only over a year ago.

the lead article "the finest work on earth" in the october 1967 km (p. 1) continued the theme of preaching with a sense of urgency:.

the sense of urgency was effective in getting some students to make a decision.

Many JWs either don't know about 1975 of are just plain dishonest. When I asked about '75 from older JWs, they would deny it and say it was some overzealous brothers who jumped ahead. That was before I got on the Net. It was all a lie. We preached 1975. I didn't, but we did teach it as bright light, thanks to the GB. Now when Jehovah refused to conform it went back to Ordinary JWs. Brothers in my KH would point to CO's and other speakers who were sacrificed on the altar of 1975 as proof that the Society never taught it. And they won't use the CD-ROM! They are truly sheep, ruled by fear.

Where do they sit in your hall?

what i find bemusing is, if there are any disfellowshipped ones in your hall they have to sit at the back.

now without getting into the merits/rights/wrongs of whether this should be still acceptable, where do they sit in your hall?

you see i seem to remember that they would sit on the back row, come in quietly just after the song and prayer and leave at the end just as quick.

JI, per your story at the shop.

There was this sister in a KH I used to be. She had four kids. She was DF. Don't know the story. She'll get them nicely dressed and drag them to the hall; they'll all take the row before the last. Didn't know she was DF yet, but noticed she was ever so quiet and the kids behaved quite well too. So after the meeting one night, I walked up to the kids and started chatting with them - didn't talk to the sister yet; she had this stern look that said to steer clear... Was chatting with the kids and playing with them. Nice kids. Then a brother touched me, pulled me aside, then said "look, the mother is DF". I said so what?? Only playing with the kids. He said, well, y'know, it'll be like you're showing allegiance to the mother who is DF! Really, I thought he was nuts. And you see her husband isn't a JW. Imagine how hard it'll be on her. To get ignored and have same happen to the innocent children. And even Jehovah has most probably forgiven her.
