They attempt to obscure the fact that while they never donate their won blood, they make use of 'fractions' of blood donated by others (as they do in the acceptance of Factor VIII); why would a true Christian reap where (s)he's not sown?

LDH is making quite a powerful point: the same Christian Congregation claiming that the love amongst themselves is the true mark of their discipleship of Jesus Christ, who are organised to accomplish God's true work on earth, isn't organised to help the most needy amongst them. This is the point, and it's powerful.

Joel Osteen on Larry KIng
by Scarred for life ini just saw joel osteen on larry king on cnn.
i don't know a lot about joel osteen.
i've never read his books or watched him on tv but i was struck with how positive he is and how upbeat and encouraging his message is.

Always interesting to hear Joel Osteen preach. His God is a wonderful god: helps at the airport to upgrade his seat to first class, finds him a parking space when everywhere looks occupied, y'know, things like that. His smile takes in the unwary, the happiness he exudes, and the noted positive attitude infect you with ease; and there's the mantra: "This is my bible... " His is a different brand of Christianity, it appears harmless, and unthreatening.

It's ravaged my folio. I'd exited some positions before things started to cool. For the rest, I'm now in for the very long haul. And I'm lurking, waiting for prices to drop low enough to be able to take some juicy positions. In the mean time, I'm keeping with the general principle of buying small volumes (very small) in apparently fundamentally sound stocks; of course, no one knows what's fundamentally sound again in this market with the last few giants hitting the ground...
