rch linsky stated the russell movement was part of the anti-christ in his commentary of 1 john 2:18. not sure what moved him to do that but thought it is pretty funny that jws quote a person who calls them the anti-christ....

it seems to me that the following would be reasons for excommunication in the scriptures as long as the person was flagrant and unrepentant in this regard:.
1 cor.
5:10 a brother who is a:.
I didn't think these ones were, but I'll go reread it...

It seems to me that the following would be reasons for excommunication in the scriptures as long as the person was flagrant and unrepentant in this regard:
1 Cor. 5:10 – A brother who is a:
Fornicator
Greedy
Idolater
Reviler
Drunkard
Extortioner
And 1 Tim. 5:20 –
Blasphemer
Then, in 2 John - anti-Christ
How do we know how far the 1st century Christians took excommunication back then? As far as the Anti-Christ goes, Christians would not receive them into there homes. However, in the case of the person who had relations with his fathers wife in Cor, was he allowed to say a greeting with the other members? Did "mix in company with" mean he wasn't allowed at the meetings, or that they weren't supposed to talk with him at all?
After how long was the excommunication ban lifted? Was he even repentant when the ban was lifted?
Also, it seems that the entire congregation made the judicial decisions. On what scriptural basis does JWs form a committee instead of the entire congregation?
If excommunication is used in the scriptires, would we not be getting the scriptures principles if we then didn't pass the same judgement on a murderer or rapist? And then, if judgement was passed on them, where would a line be drawn? Which sins would be fall under the excommunication rule?
And if sin is breaking a law according to the scriptures, which law shows the sins we are to stay away from - Noahs law or the Mosaic one?
although it has been leading up to this for a long time, it appears russia has made up their mind to get rid of "extremist" groups by banning them, and jws are pretty much at the top of the list.
the last few years under putin they have been giving them heaps of trouble.. .
i am not for bans as it usually backfires, but under the "new" admnistration it looks like hard-core responses are in order.
Wow!
i've noticed that when a bible study is conducted, when worldly people have questions a lot of jws say that there question is covered later in the book.
that way, the worldlys get stopped in there tracks all the while feeling like there questions are getting answered while the assimilation takes place.. they either forget there question or the book tells them what the answer is without either giving them biblical proof or twisting scriptures.
i've noticed a lot of paragraphs in books just telling people what the answer is without scriptures or saying something like, "surely it would make sense that...".
Interesting Lisa... Ever look them up on fb or something???
... and nothing but the truth, please help me prozak..... i'm sure some have noticed how 'cranky' and 'snappy' i have been posting the last couple of days.... i am sorry..... life on my peaceful farm has gone to hell the last week with the noise of constant loud bangs from 'scareguns' that have been placed around our property to keep the ducks off the rice crops..... i have had very little sleep as the noise echos inside my old brick house 24hrs a day!......
so now that i have had my rant, i ask the question.... (in the family guy style).
what grinds your gears????????.
Hubbys who leave there dirty laundry everywhere.
so as not to hijack this thread, i'm starting my own.
please add to the list i've started!.
the point is--be anchored in normalcy.. if the list gets long enough, i might post it on my jw downloads page for posterity.
If they say they would like to meet with you...
Say, "Sure! I was hoping you would ask! You know, I was just gonna ask you, how do you know Jerusalem fell in 607 vs 586/587? I couldn't figure it out. If you could come over with the answer to that, that would be great! Give me a call when it's a good time for you!"
i find them to be annoying.
i have worldly friends, jws, and 2 unknown apostate friends.
the comments from jws are a lot like this: .
otwo - i do recall them saying something about texting at the assembly... I'll have to check my notes...
