i had a typing class in high school and learned to type with both hands it has stayed with me to this day...do you hunt and peck with 2 fingers or whole handed...

I took typing in school and type really fast with both hands and don't have to look at the keys. I can watch tv or talk to someone while typing. It sure is handy now that communication is mostly email and internet.

I have to admit I haven't got much patience for hunt and peck typers who only do one liners in email because they can't type well.

My husband is a hunt and peck typer, he takes hours to type a simple email if its a few paragraphs. That I have patience for as he is really trying, I offered to teach him to type but he refuses LOL

How Can people talk to Children like that....

i was coming out of the grocery store with a few items, and a round the corner comes a woman with 2 young.

boys about 7 or 8. she seemed a little clutsey, she raises her voice, the whole damn parking lot could of heard.. they were walking a head of her, she says "if you trip me boy, your going to sit in the truck all day.

like a lot but geez its 29 degrees celsius and extremely humid.

I raised 4 kids, ( 4 kids in 6 years) at one point the oldest was 6, a 5 year old a 2 year old and a babe in arms. What a handful, and going out alone with them was quite a challenge to keep them safe and with me.

I never ever yelled at them or said nasty things to them at home or in public, thats just me. I do think its necessary to keep them safe and behaving and everyone has their methods.

the only thing I think is terrible is to use foul language with children and or threaten them with physical violence even if you don't mean it. My husband (we re divorced now) did that with our kids. He would use foul language, threaten to put them in the hospital and he would physically kick them in the ass if he got really mad. I hated that so I tried to be kind, loving and patient with them. Just my opinion

"Queenie" has passed away

i got an email from her daughter lisa this morning regarding "queenie", who used to post on this forum as well as others, such as my yahoo groups.

many of you long timers on this forum probably remember queenie.

she had multiple health problems and took a turn for the worse last month after a fall and died yesterday.

I was told I have diabetes today

my doctor told me i have it.

i have to test my blood to see if it can be contorlled by diet or if i have to take meds for it.

for the next 2 weeks i have to test my blood 2 times a day.

Oh Noni, what a nuisance, getting diabetes. So sorry you have to go through that sort of health problem. The good news is it can be fixed.

My Dad had it and once he found out and lived with the testing his blood everyday etc he went on The Diabetic Diet and his problem was solved within 6 months. My cousin just got diagnosed with the same thing like you and he immediately went on a special diet and within 2 months he was OK. So the good news is it can be controlled, unlike Diabetes type 1.

How Long Did It Take You to Realize It Wasn't "The Truth"?

i see some posters still aren't 100% sure that the jehovah's witness religion might not be "the truth"....was there a moment when things became very clear for you regarding this religion?.

do you still think, maybe----jws aren't all that bad??

I did until I joined this group in January 08, what I learned here showed me that !00% it is NOT the truth. It took me over 50 years to be free of that religion and its quilt and fear. I left the WT 25 years ago as I hated being a JW but I still thought they might have the truth until this year. What a burden off my mind and heart.

having been a jehovah's witness for 28 years any and everyone here could have been in my congregation with no thought of discent...and yet here we all are here...some time in our past we realized something was wrong with our belief system but you would have never known it with the ones you shared your beliefs with...i never dreamed i would ever leave much less find a community struggling with the same issues i did but we did and are all here...kind of surreal in a strange way...who would have known...

I just wish we had had the internet and places like this when I left the WT in the 80's, I thought I was the only one that had left. Those of you coming out now, you don't know how lucky you are to have this place.

Granny Grace, I am on a diet so my Margarita is going to be a Nadamargarita, no booze in it. I will only have one, my hubbie will have 2 maybe. Its kind of a summer tradition that we have them on a Sunny Holiday weekend to get in the summer mode. We put on a Jimmy Buffet CD and its like being on Holiday in Mexico.

Hope you are doing well Grace, miss hearing from you. I will try and keep in touch more.

So they are phone witnessing now

the jw's just called my job.

my boss answered the phone and she said that they were like, id like to share a scripture with you, read the scripture and was like now if you grab your bible, and she was like i dont have a bible and they said well, when someone comes by for a talk, and she was like, you cannot come here, this is a place of business.. .

They need to use the Internet and email people....much less intrusive as we can just hit delete or deluge them with apostate stuff. But no the Internet is from the devil, spreads lies about the WT.

Thankfully I have a unlisted number. Or do they just do random numbers in a row like the telemarketing companies.

I moved 3 years ago to a small town of about 500 people. Lovely place and it has at least 6 churches, one one my street 4 houses down. No Kingdum Hall. I have not had one visit from a JW. Thankfully but obviously they aren't pounding the pavement to find people here. I am home almost all the time.

Before that I lived in Toronto in the downtown area. I had JW's come to my door every month, I had a intercom so I didn't have to answer the door in person. I was a widow and lived alone, scarey to answer the door in my area. So I would just say I was interrupted in the shower and dripping. they would say we can come back another time. I would say no not necessary.
