for me, it was not being able to prove that people were going to be resurrected to earth... i'm still not sure of the answer, but for some reason that just started this huge, fast snowball of different things that i couldn't prove... .

I could not accept the WT claim that the remaining annointed of the 144,000 are only JW's in 'this time of the end'. I thought to myself "is this one big scam?"

In fact my question still is what makes these people annointed? Is it because of the 1935 date or that they have an out of body experience? Is it one big lie? What didn't help to answer this perplexing question was the failed prophecies and the "new" members of the annointed and also that lame nephilim story. Bogus, bogus bogus!

On a more serious note though, the actions of the WTO are going to end up exposing them for what and who they really are despite their claims of authority. It's only a matter of time which is why so many newbies are lurking and joining JWD. (IMHO)

Do they ever announce this type of information to the Congregations or at least to the workers in Bethel? Why should it appear in a newspaper article first? The members have a right to know everything that they do with that money. Is there a public report available to Witnesses on the financial status of the WTO? Or are we supposed to "trust" their business acumen? How does it all work?

Just remember, witnesses aren't the only people who are considered wholesome and innocent. In fact a lot of them aren't and they definitely watch R-rated movies!

I believe the best advice that you have received on this topic has been from Velta and Mouthy. I have noticed that JW's have a hard time converting from the brainwashing of never feeling worthy enough. Especially those that were raised in the truth. As a result there is serious and very damaging cult control over their minds.

If you were to read the bible without the assistance of the WT you will find the truth. The theme of the bible is Jesus Christ. Read from that perspective and not from the perspective of the Kingdom. Even though there is truth to that, the Kingdom is directly connected to Jesus Christ. The WT uses the word "Kingdom" to connect it to the faithful and discreet slave. That mind control has had a debilitating effect on witnesses and it is sad to watch. I really feel sorry for your hubby because he will always feel unworthy unless he changes his perspective about the WT. Unworthiness is a terrible, terrible feeling and one that is not encouraged by the scriptures.

Did you know that when Adam and Eve were covered by animal clothing after they had sinned in the garden of Eden that it was symbolic of Jesus Christ's future sacrifice? In order to be covered by animal clothing there had to have been a sacrifice of an animal. That was a beautiful illustration of the love that Jehovah and Jesus have for mankind and now when I read the bible I think of the loving sacrifice that Jesus made and I am very, very grateful.

Take Velta and Mouthy's advice. Don't worry about whether you're going to leave or not right now. Forget about the stupid WT and find your own truth. I still go to the meetings although occasionally (twice a week, sometimes less) and still report (fake) time. But it is so liberating to know the "real" truth. So I just sit back and observe, confident in the fact that the WT is a huge lie that will eventually be exposed. There are tons of scriptures that are taken out of context to support a point and when the blinders are off you really see it.

One time a brother who was an MS had a talk and there was this one scripture (that I can't remember now) that focused on Jesus Christ. He only focused on the "a" part of the scripture and I showed it to my husband who in turn asked the brother. He said he would get back to him and of course never did because he couldn't explain it! Research is based on the WT publications so witnesses feel that the information is automatically correct. It is NOT! I am strongly convinced because I prayed in earnest about it and found my answers.

Share these facts with your husband and then hopefully he will start to feel a lot better about himself.

with all of the newbies the last few months joining the board i wanted to provide a thread for them to express what stresses they are going through in exiting the jehovah's witness cult .

so please all newbies- we are happy you are here , tell us what you are going through , and some of us will help if we are able to.

I go to the Hall maybe once a week, sometimes twice. I don't go out in fs at all. They caught me the other night and I recorded a couple of hours. I wish I hadn't though. I just didn't feel like any questions.

What they don't know is that I have been pursing a Master's degree for the past year. Quite frankly it's none of their business. I think that it is just plain ridiculous that you are supposed to confide in people that you otherwise wouldn't and expose your life to them. It used to make me laugh how people would run to the elders. I could never understand that.

Okay I just had to reply to this post. I have been lurking for years and I just love this site. Sometimes I get irritated at some of the threads but for the most part its just people being people...normal people at that. I created an account once before and got the usual and wonderful greeting. However I'm really just too busy to get on; but as I said I think this is one of the best forums I know. It is also very informative. So Cognac and Hypnotic if you want to stay in the loop this is the place!

Anyway now that I have said all of that, Cognac & Hypnotic you guys are awesome and you probably have no idea of how many people you have encouraged and made smile with your postings. I too am in the organization and quite frankly resent the level of control. I know without a doubt that it is NOT the truth but stay for the heck of it. My kids who are now in their late teens are more focused, happy and normal, and this is not because of the hall. It's because I cut back on the obligations and told them that they did not have to go. Family is important and no matter how much the organization emphasizes this the rank and file are not smart enough to reflect on the damage that has been done to their own families. I really, really feel sorry for most of them because they can't free their minds.

I go when I feel like it...which is sometimes once a week and sometimes 3 times a month...whatever! The point is that I go sporadically. I took this board's advice and have just faded, and so has my husband. Although he feels more obligated then me. He was given one of the many responsibilities that the lowly get but they relinquished him of this responsibility because he was missing meetings. Boy was he happy! :-) I told him that all they need is "bodies" anyway!

This post is definitely longer than I anticipated but I just had to say welcome to Cognac and Hypnotic and thanks for sharing. I think what is so profound is that there are many witnesses who feel the same way and just won't say. Are we cowardly? Of course not! The organization has been a master of control. But thanks to this board we have learned how to deal with it. They are trying desperately to counteract the effects of the internet but as someone said...time is their enemy and the real truth is being revealed.
