The Memorial

i saw some mention of this in another post, but i wasn't sure if there was a topic about it.

being raised in the "truth" its always pointed out that even people who haven't been to meetings in years still come to the memorial.

ive noticed that a lot of time that is actually the case.

Whats the reasoning? I'm trying to decide if Im gonna go this year or not...If i do it will only be so my wife doesnt have to go herself and so i don't receive grief about it from my family. Anyone else have anything to say about it?

NEW article on Oral Sex?!

i was watching the youtube video on the nbc piece about pedophiles and saw a comment about a new oral sex study article that was supposedly quite graphic.

i was curious if anyone had this?!

or knew what date it was...i might be able to sneak a peek the next time i visit my mother.

According to my wife who is still active, there was an article within the last couple months concerning oral/anal sex. To my understanding, its back to "If you do it, dont tell".

what i did was totally out of character for me.

i had a sharp pare of scissors in my hand and i was just so angry.

before i knew what happened i had thrust them forward... over and over... once i finally stopped i just couldn't believe the mess everywhere.

hello folks, how are you ?

i am just about done reading the steve hassan book, " combatting cult mind control".

thought i would share some of the points here for newbies and all others to see just what a person exiting a cult, or jehovah's witnesses might go through psychologically so they can better know how to deal with the various emotions of anger, guilt , and sadness that can accompany leaving the witnesses.

Since I'm still relatively young i don't have as many years in it as some, but nonetheless I'm angry. What angers me the most is that im only 25 and i didn't get to do the things that a normal 20-25 year old does because i was trying to live a good "Christian" life. Date lots of girls, go to college, travel, etc.I started working full time right out of high school. The only girl I've ever dated is the girl that i married. Not that its a bad thing, and i love my wife every much, but i still would have liked to have been with different girls that way i could see who was really right for me. (We really have nothing in common except being witnesses and now that doesn't even apply anymore.)I got so depressed at one point that i didnt care if i dropped dead that day. The elders came over to talk to me about it at one time and pretty much they said that i just need to study more, pray, go in service, and i would feel better. Nope. Fortunately I'm in college now, and in June im going to Japan for a month to stay with some "Worldly" friends. My friends from work have been so helpful as far as making me feel loved. I knew i was going to lose everyone when i decided to fade and it was a terrible feeling, but knowing that there were people who care about you regardless of what god you worship makes all the difference. Finally, the thing im most angry about is the fact that ive been so indoctrinated that even though i see so much wrong and so many things that i disagree with, (Even more so now that im on the outside looking in) i still always have a nagging feeling in the back of my head that im gonna die because im being petty and leaving gods organization. The hold that they have over you is tremendous, especially when the first words you ever spoke as a baby were "Paradise coming".

i have been a jw for thirty years, attending meetings at the same kh all this time.

about seven years ago, i began to wonder to myself if the jws were the only religion that god approves of.

six years ago, a very good childhood friend of mine died from a long illness, ( he was not a jw) and i was quite bothered by his death.
