Turning off your lights is just a symbol, it's to get people thinking and talking about climate change.

10 good reasons why celebrating birthdays should be allowed
by bluecanary ini cannot take credit for any of the gems below but i did want to polish and organize them.
much of the information was borrowed from this thread.
if you can come up with any more, please post them.. the bible does not ban birthdays.

Oh I love this. Birthdays was one of the points I brought up to some elders who visited me.
The point I made was that when Jesus rocked up on earth he condemned the way the Scribes and Pharisees took the biblical writings and twisted it into rules that were never written. If he turned up again, take a guess at the religion he would point the finger for excessive rule making this time round.

to be controlled or not to be controlled that is the question!
by semelcred inafter years in a high-control group i cannot seem to accept any form of control from an organisation.
i am fascinated to know how others cope with finding another group to asscociate with.
i am so cynical i might never be able to be a part of any group again!

Hi Semel... sorry if I sounded harsh, I get mad when I think of religion.
I went through the same stage as you. I think for me I had started to escape the brainwashing but the remnants left me with the thought that "where else shall I go?"
When you realise that you don't need to "go" anywhere, and that happiness lies in yourself, that's when you'll realise the brainwashing is finally starting to clear.

Semel, to be honest, I'm trying to work out why you feel you need to get involved in another form of worship again. Don't you see that it's all the same bullsh*t?
All religion is started by just one man. And usually it's just one self-indulgent, egotistic man. Think about that. It's like you deciding, "Oh I think everyone should start listening to me cause I know so much better than them," and then you start a religion on all the stuff that rocks your socks. Which is cool for you, but kinda lame for everyone else.
If you believe the Bible, take note that Jesus never mentioned any of this rubbish. He never once said that you wouldn't be acceptable unless you were following the chosen mystery group. That's man once again bringing in their own control and pride.

How good is it to be out?
by hotchocolate ini was in the truth all my life, i pioneered and was deeply involved.
i left because i realised the real truth and i could not live a hypocritical life.
the first year was terrible, i went to the lowest of low.

Thanks Flipper. And to others too - personally when I write "the truth", it's because I'm hoping to speak the language of those who might be reading this from the place I was not so long ago. Every time I write here I'm aware of trying to stay respectful and use terms that insiders will relate to... "All things to all people", it's ingrained, what can I say? :-)
