I saw that this morning. I really could'nt see anything wrong with the casual wear, just another control thing.

JW Closet Drinkers
by shamus100 inhow many here have had jw friends that can only have a good time when they drink?
i've known plenty - ones with obvious drinking problems.
not necessarialy alcoholics, but ones that equate good times with drinking, and drinking alone.

I've known several over the years but at the time did'nt think much of it. I wonder why now though I did'nt take notice of it.Sometimes I think we expect the Witness friends to be more than they really are so we just overlook or turn a blind eye to this stuff.I was in a car group in service one day and the elder that was with us was saying how he did'nt have to go out and find another woman to have sex with. He just called his wife by her middle name and it seemed like adultery without actually comitting it. He was talking to another bro. in the car anf they were laughing about it Just about made me sick and there were 2 young boys in the car that could have heard it.I know this has nothing to do with your subject of drinking but it just shows how much hypocrisy there is.

I've been on this site for almost 2 months. Have developed frindships with some and have really enjoyed the different ideas and opinions, I'm not DA'D Or DF"D but would be if the elders knew of my being on this site, but that won't stop me . I'm just slowly fading out because of all the doubts I've had for so many years. I've got close family still in the Org. and I don't want to be shunned by them, at least not yet.

My insane JW friend takes me to lunch...
by sooner7nc inyesterday, i get a call at work from my old jw buddy, who btw doesn't know my true feelings on religion.
he offers to buy lunch so we go to a local burger joint, sit down, and start swapping stories like always.
we see each other once or twice a week, share many common interests, and generally get along well.

Sounds like to me that deep down "Roy " was disappointed that he did'nt get DF"D. To come clean after all these years. Really don't see the point in it if he had stopped doing what he thought was wrong. Telling men what you have done wrong is pointless. They cannot change a thing.
Also, I guess it does'nt hurt to have friends on the JC,right?

My JW mother passed away

three years ago i posted my first topic about my mother, she passed away recently.
it still hurts to lose a mother, someone who gave you birth and raised you the best she could.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mother's death. And also just as saddened to hear how she was treated by her so called "cong sisters". That is definitely not the way to treat anyone, especially someone who because if age and health problems could no longer attend meetings. In that would be more of areason to do all we could for someone if they were sick.
Things like this really make me mad.

What Injustices Did You Deal With From Congregation Elders ?
by flipper infirst of all i want to say at the outset , that this thread is only about elders who committed injustices.
i realize there are many ex-elders on the board here , and as a disclaimer i want to say this information is not meant to offend any of you who served in that capacity .
i think most all of you had pure , sincere motives in serving the congregations .

When my daughter was having problems as a teenager a few years ago, one of the elders told us in a "meeting' to show respect, that when were talking to him we were talkiing to Jehovah. I wish now that I had told him exactly where he could go with his superior attitude but at the time I sat there like a meek little lamb ready for the slaughter and took it. My daughter never was the same about the meetings or any part of it after that and I really don't think I was either.
He is no longer in this cong. In fact shortly after that happened, he found out that own teenage daughter was in the same kind of trouble. What goes around, comes around does'nt it?

As a Witness Did you Feel "Coerced" to be "Used" for " Privileges" ?
by flipper inbeing raised in a fairly prominent witness family was a challenge for me growing up .
my dad was city overseer for 30 years in the same city .
older brother in bethel for 8 years, has been an elder 35 years , an older sister who went to gilead school and regular pioneered for years .

Being a sister in the congregation of course I never had that problem. I did play the piano for 25 years or more until we were about the last cong. around to do that. I missed it for awhile but had gotten to the point of it getng on my nerves also. There was one arrogant elder that kept talking about how as a united organization we really needed to stop using the piano and go to the CD's. That was ok with me but until it actually happened I kept thinking that I did'nt need to bedoing this.
Another thing I remember is my uncle had just lost his son to pneumonia, was only 35 yrs.old, so needless to say he was in no shape to go in service like they thought he should for quite some time. Well, they would'nt let him be"used to carry the freaking microphones around for a long time because his service time was low!!!That really made me mad.
So there's just one more reason I'm glad to be free!!!!!!!!!

It is snowing like a bastard!!!....
by Alpaca in.....in ohio started yesterday and isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow morning.
when i see this kind of weather it makes me think of the absurd policy of the borg that the sisters must always dress in a skirt for field service.
can you imagine having snow blowing up your skirt at 40 mph????.
