What was the worst part of the conventions for YOU?
by mochamint22 ini thought it'd be fun to talk about what part of the conventions just made you cringe or be annoyed with.
i can remember a couple things:.
i remember after the tms when they put the list in the back on the announcement board, there were people that would get up while the last song was being sung to write down the info.

I hated Friday morning of the convention because i knew it was 3 days of misery. I hated freezing, getting so sleepy, the symposiums, .Really nothing about it did I like, oh except for the going home part.

A deep deep hurt
by sooner7nc inwhen i was a couple of months old my father was put into prison in seagoville, texas.
the watchtower took him away from me for almost 2 years and destroyed almost all hope that he and i would ever have a normal relationship.
i say this because i believe the bond that we should have formed when i was a baby was severed forever and that's the damnable shame of it all.

Well, when I think I can't love my children more than I already do I'm proven wrong. I'm so very thankful for my son and daughter. I love you both so much and I'm so thankful for the friends we have found here. Mr. Flipper for one, well, all of you. Thank you all for being here.
I'm just so glad to be free!

My mom is still in so I bought nothing for her. I know she's about to die wondering if I got the grandchildren gifts but so far she's not asked? Just drops little hints here and there. And I did buy gifts for all my kids and had a ball doing it.

Will jws be at your and your neighbor's doorstep this Saturday?
by blondie ini would think that a portion of the non-jw population might be at church.
i don't think there are any football games that day.
what would you say or recommend to your non-jw neighbors?.

What did (do) u want to be when u grew up?
by Sayswho ini was born in the mid 1950's and raised as a jw so i did not need to consider or worry about this...why?...because it was instilled into me that i would never have to worry about being old enough to be anything in this "old system of things".. as the years went by:.
1970-something...out of school...no "new system"no need for more training, just a few years left... no "new system"got a job, married,... no "new system""waking up" 50+ years later...still no "new system"this was the mind set of so many raised as jw's, and we are now finding ourselves trying to adjust our lives to weather the years that we have left...in order to make the best of them.. please... if you are still an active jw (or not) get an a good education so you can support yourself and prepare for retirement, and don't be afraid to talk to others about how to do this so you can make an informed decision on what is best for you.so what did (do) you want to be when you grow up?

by undercover insomeone started a thread asking everyone's favorite xmas movies.. how about favorite xmas music/songs?
even when i was an active jw i had a soft spot for certain xmas music.
the standards, the jazzy ones, the rocknroll ones.. while i like a lot of different ones...i even collected my favs onto a playlist that i keep for this time of year...there are a few that really stand out as my favs.
