DO WE NEED TO BELONG TO A RELIGION TO BE A "SPIRITUAL PERSON"?
by foodalls ini have been noticing people posting on this site have a "deep" spiritual desire, but don't quite know how to find it, or where it is at.. this beg the question...do we need to be involved with a "religion" to find "spirituality"...especially an "organized religion"???.
anyone that has there eyes open can see that all religion is loosing their influence over people around the world...i spent 47 years thinking i was in the "truth" being one of jw's!
and now that i am out...and looking back from the "outside"...all i see is that its just another religion...filled with all the "control-grid" stuff found in any other group.. worse yet...they are worse than other religions...so it begs an answer..is there such thing as a "true religion"???.

THE MOST THRILLING MOMENT of your life.....?
by Terry inhere is the most thrilling moment of my life.. i got to meet my film composer heroes john barry and miklos rosza at the beverly hills writer's guild theater for a seminar on filmmusic.. i was 30 years old at the time and going through my "you look like clint eastwood" stage.
(i'm trying to explain my crazy hair!).
i chatted with them and got them to sign my albums.. what was your most thrilling moment?.

Were you Stalked or Chased After Once you Exited the JW's by Elders ?
by flipper ini tried to fade off the map by moving 30 miles initially in 2004 after i exited in late 2003 .
the first several years they didn't bother me.
i ran into a elder from my former congregation in late 2005 in an antique store - he tried telling me i was wrong for stopping attending meetings.

Well, it made me mad and I'm still a little pissed off. This person hasn't done ANYTHING as far as "spiritual" matters go in literally years, has gone through 2 divorces in the last few years because he was so mean and controlling. And another thing that really makes my blood boil is the fact that when someone decides to leave the WT it's automatically presumed we have left Jehovah. That really gripes me because no one can know what is in another person's heart. I for one have a much closer relationship with Jehovah than I ever did when I was contolled by men. I pray more now and feel it really means something. Things like this makes me more certain than ever that I never will go back. EVER!

Child Abuse At The Meetings
by Hairyhegoat inplease read and i will tell you now this was it was like for me !.
kingdom halls are a hellish memory for me.
i grew up as a jehovah's witness from the age of 9 until i fought my way to freedom at age 18. i recall children as young as a year old being beaten repeatedly for not sitting still during services...some sessions, called assemblies, were 6 hours long and lasted for 3-5 days in succession.. my nephew was one of many who felt the literal sting of the watchtower's stance of "spare the rod, spoil the child.

I do admit spanking both of my children for misbehaving at meetings. But I never beat them. And later when my daughter was little I was already at the point of such shear boredom that I'd look forward to her getting restless so that we could get up and go to the bathroom. We'd just stand around and wish we were home or at McDonalds!

Why are they targeting this particular funeral? Has anything been said about the other 5 that will take place? I think it's disgusting that anyone would even think of disrupting a funeral. No matter who it is or where it's held. And I can think of many terrible things I'd like to do to the shooter. Oh he'd live to tell about it. But he'd be wishing he were dead. That's just my opinion.
