Torture to find WMD?
by Greenpalmtreestillmine indo you think those iraqi's were tortured to find wmd?.
the rank and file soldier was following the orders of the hired interrogation contractors (who are outside of military law) to soften up the prisoners.
what were they looking for this past year?

Hi Patio,
Yeru clearly stated on another thread and provided an article even from some disenfranchised journalist or something that WMDs were definitely moved to Syria. Not a problem.
LOL, Remember when Powell spoke to the U.N. and showed satallite pictures of trucks he said were being moved from one place to another? He claimed this was proof they were trying to hide the WMD or some ridiculous thing like that. After this stupid war started I wondered why it was that those same satellites that showed trucks moving from one place to another did not also show the moving of weapons of WMDs being moved out of the country as some tried to make us believe!
Also, if Rumsfeld and his drones felt the Iraqis had WMDs ready to go, why did he reduce the number of troops requested by the military? And if the Secretary of Defense expected to have WMD lobbed at his troops why did he send them in without armored plated Humvees? Afterall if they had WMDs they certainly would have small missiles and artillery.
The truth is that the sanctions worked! Iraq was a militarily crippled country, if the Administration had let the Inspectors do their job we would have that found that out. Hmmm.....80 billion to find Osama....yeah I think that would have worked.

Do you think those Iraqi's were tortured to find WMD?
I think they were. The rank and file soldier was following the orders of the hired interrogation contractors (who are outside of military law) to soften up the prisoners. What were they looking for this past year? yep, WMDs. President Bush has made every attempt to declare his disdain for any national or international law that does not allow him to do whatever his extreme conservative or born again Christian beliefs demand. Also, the very reason why the Afghan prisoners are being held in Cuba is to avoid the rule of law. This type of thinking filters down quick.
This born again President of ours has brought us more trouble than the Inquisition and the Civil War combined. November O' November, Come Ye Quickly!

United We Stand?
by patio34 inwhat is the import of this saying that's used so widely in the us.
is the message that dissent is wrong?
that we must be united or else we'll fall?

Patio,
I have been very surprised to find that so many people out in the so called world are just as mind controlled and under intense peer pressure to conform as the JWs are.
Many people support their political party like they support a sports team. And they think "my country right or wrong" without giving thought to the fact that those living in other countries may feel the same way.
I'm not able to understand it all yet, but this much I have learned so far; people are not as autonomous as they think they are. Personal autonomy or self-direction is the great falsehood of our day I believe. A better description of people is, imo, ant colonies. Each colony or group has its place and will not give way to the other. Fortunately there are many individuals who resist being put in any category and these are the ones who shine among the throngs of Walmart-like mediocrity and group thinking of the masses.
Well, that's my opinion for now anyway. I am trying to learn about people and the world in general but I find the learning gets more and more troubling not less.

Is the Administration Planning Another War?
by Greenpalmtreestillmine ini've been reading and reading, thinking and thinking.
it is hard to understand why president bush chose to come out in support of sharon right at this moment, when things in iraq are at their most difficult and sensitive.
people are saying he has only inflamed the situation even more than before and has further endangered the troops.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Iraq had U.N. Inspectors on the ground looking for WMDs.
Given these two circumstances, why did we rush to war? Why didn't President Bush give the inspectors the time they needed? Osama was in Afghanistan, he was the one who attacked us not Saddam. Yes, I know Saddam is a big bad guy, the world is full of them. Saudi Arabia funds terrorists, Pakistan harbored terrorists yet they are our friends.
The major problem with the Iraq war is it made no sense.

To The Opposers of George W. Bush and The War In Iraq
by L_A_Big_Dawg inas i read grenpalmtrees post to those of us that support president bush and the current iraqi war, i was reminded that i needed to do something concrete to show me support for this situation.
so i contacted camp pendleton (a marine base which has lost a number of troops in iraq), and spoke with an officer, and asked what i could do to support the families of those that have paid the ultimate price in this war.
he gave me a list of accounts, and i have since donated money to those accounts.

LA,
That was a great idea! I hope more do exactly what you did, I will.
I wish we could all forget the pulling for this political party or that and just be Americans. I don't agree with the war but that does not mean I do not support those who are serving in Iraq. For some reason to say we oppose the war is translated by some into meaning we are unAmerican or do not support the troops.
To the contrary, I oppose the war because I do support the troops. If I didn't care about the troops I wouldn't bother at all to even talk about the whole thing. People who support the war and those like me who oppose the war can and should get together and give our support for those who are there through no fault of their own. They volunteered to defend America, whether or not we feel the war is justified it does not take one iota away from the honor and support due to these young men and women.
Thanks for a great idea and a great thread.

Simon,
I think President Bush can get what he wants from the military and if he can't he will start a draft and use the draftees to fill in for the more seasoned troops serving outside of the Iraq theatre. If he does, there will be less of a clamour about the draft from the public and the seasoned troops will go to war in the Middle East. I think the President works on getting the end results no matter what quirky road he must walk.
Alan F,
I agree with you 100%

Blacksheep,
I know the "war" on terror is still on, so do you think he will go and expand the war then to Palestine?

I've been reading and reading, thinking and thinking.
It is hard to understand why President Bush chose to come out in support of Sharon right at this moment, when things in Iraq are at their most difficult and sensitive. People are saying he has only inflamed the situation even more than before and has further endangered the troops. The King of Jordan has canceled his meeting with President Bush. The President of Egypt said yesterday that the United States has never been hated this much in the region before. So politically it did not seem like a good move. Unless.....
Could the President be planning to go into Palestine after the election? The whole place is a mess now, what would stop the President from bringing about what many religious right Christians would love to see, peace in Israel and the eventual return of Jerusalem to the Jews. President Bush does believe he is a messenger of God. He believes the U.S. is supposed to be spreading freedom etc.
If he is a devout born again Christian who believes the U.S. is being used to spread freedom it does not seem too much of a stretch to think he might also believe that to bring freedom and peace to Jerusalem is to aid in the coming of the Christ.
I hope he is not planning anymore wars!
