  JWs and making decisions

  i was interested in two articles in the watchtower of october 15th 2003.

  both articles give an insight into decision making as a jehovah?s witness.

  i found the juxtaposition of them quite interesting!

  "Whatever happened to maturity?"

  Unfortunately, the Organization is of the opinion that maturity is fostered by telling people what to do all the time. The Society hinders spiritual and personal growth when it dictates every aspect of spiritual life and personal life. They keep the brothers in safe spiritual walkers and spiritual playpens like toddlers.

  As all parents know if you insist that your children remain babies they will either rebel or worse never grow up. The Society has forced the brothers and sisters to remain spiritual babes always looking to mother for direction and never allowed to stand on their own before God. They have made themselves god, father, mother and conscience maker for 6 million people. A heavy responsibility before God, very heavy.

  i posted here just a little back in january of 2001. i scrambled out of here right quick then since i was still active and fearful of so many things.

  i am inactive but not exactly a non jw yet.

  i am a conservative person and still believe that some of the teachings of jws are good though i do not agree with everything that's for sure!

  i am inactive but not exactly a non jw yet.

  Ken,

  Like you I also tried to see what was out there religious wise. I have searched the internet and at times have come across a site that I thought to myself, "this is it!" only to find out after much time spent reading and researching that they were not for me either.

  "Well what to do now?", I have said to myself many times. Now I cling to God and love my family, my friends and peace. Life is so hard sometimes but as long as I have these I am happy.

  Thank you for sharing your experience in the Organization.

  Mouthy,

  I will read all of your posts because you remind of an older sister I once knew. We hugged at every meeting, if I was across the hall she would make it a point to come directly to me and greet me with her customary greeting (one that was for me only) and I would do the same.

  She could be mother, sister, friend and just about everything else I guess. I miss her.

  Thank you. Yes God does hold us up to the end and people like yourself and others here are ones he uses to help those of us who need a helping hand from time to time. Your encouragement meant a lot to me.

  Holiday decorations on the Kingdom Hall

  you know... last year i chickened out... but i'm thinkin there's these two trees in front of my old hall... and they look just like xmas trees... god, wouldn't it be funny if...?

  if we had a mass movement and bunch of apostates went to as many kh in their cities and threw some decorations up?

  i wonder if the dubs would think it's the end of the world!

  I don't think all of this is a good idea. While those who do it might not care what the brothers think there may be others in the territory who are fading or disassociated or disfellowshipped who may in the minds of the brothers in the congregation get the blame.

  It is so hard for so many of us who are out why make it harder?

  I am inactive but the brothers still come by to encourage me. But you know I don't know what to say. I feel so sad for them and all of us. They mean well and I appreciate their concern but I can't really speak to them. I feel like a mute reduced to hand signals. I shake their hand invite them in and talk about nothing. They leave feeling they have helped me in some way but I just feel so sad.

  I feel between worlds.

  Hi Frank,

  Learning to think differently is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. To not lean on people I thought were my spiritual fathers was so hard to do because it felt good you know to have someone guiding the way for me. Helping me (or so I thought) to learn about Jehovah and how to live a life that pleased God.

  Now I lean on God alone and hope that he will help all those in the Organization who search for him to have peace.
