I was never a JW but I was wondering does the whole Armageddon thing give people comfort so that they do not have to do anything for a productive future because it is all in gods hands? Or is Armageddon the gun to your head making you work harder and worry more that you are not doing all you can do for THE WATCH TOWER and your future in paradise?

embalming and baptism?
by Budda ini was never a jw, i was wondering if jw embalm people when they die.
muslims and i think orodox jews do not embalm.
if someone was injured or murdered they even put the bloody clothes with the body when they bury it.

If someone was injured or murdered they even put the bloody clothes with the body when they bury it. If blood is the life giver and so important why remove it when you die other then legal issues. I was also wondering why they baptize people since baptism goes back to Babylonian times.

2008
by jefferywhat ini have noticed, and posted a little bit about all the buzz surrounding this year.
there is a little bit of a whisper campaign going around that armageddon is coming this year.
from other posts i notice im not the only one who is seeing this, there is alot of "reminders" that we need to be obedient and trusting of the fds ( which i am of course), along with reminders to stock up and prepare for disasters etc they are really pointing to something.

Why does the watch tower do this I was never a JW? Does this make people feel comfortable so they dont have to do anything? Is it like putting a gun to someone head and telling them to sell more magazines or else?

Seeking God
by Satanus inafter practically a lifetime of searching for god, is it my fault that he didn't show?
i have always tended to get to the bottom of things.
my goal has mostly been to understand the whys and hows.

My problem with Christianity is that it is always looking for salvation from an external source. They also fill you with guilt of orginal sin. In extreme cases it fills you with superstitions like the JWS do. Just celebrate Halloween which is really about not being afraid of things which might scare you.

I think we are made of stars which if god exists and created the heavens and the earth then god is inside of each of us. I think the only pure truth we can trust is our own experiences. I think meditation is important to stay intouch with our "inner God".

I want to tell you about my friend who is a JW. My first impression of her was a gorgeous, nice, and intelligent woman. After a few weeks I could tell we were both attracted to each other and even one of my friends was hinting we should get together. When she told me that her job at the library was like a master’s degree she looked as though she was either lying or felt uncomfortable about what she just said. I always thought the JWs where nice when they came to your door so I went to the website to find out what they think of college Ed. When I found out that they believe that the Big A is coming and that there’s no point in going to college I was shocked. I felt I just could not ask her out because of her beliefs, and felt bad about it. I never told her this though since she never brought up her religion but I know her brother and family are JW’s. Her parents have a congregation at her house and I believe they are deeply devout. I have a friend whose parents were Christian fundamentalist and he told me about the hell he went through when he left his church and was disowned by his family. I am not very religious and have a more Buddhist Unitarian view on religion. I do not understand why anyone would want to live in a so called paradise if it is created by such a violent act. I think god created sickness so we would care for each other. I also don’t believe in there prophesies, and rewriting of the bible the JW’s do. I believe more in creating inner piece through meditation pray or whatever you want your spiritual path to be in this life time. So I forgot about her but I have some health issues now and have been spending more time at the library. Now about a year later when I see her she seems to completely avoid me like the plague. I still feel bad about what happened and feel as though she is trapped in a brainwashing cult. I wonder how much of her life she truly enjoys. Do you have any ideas on how I could tell her how I feel or how I could help her out? I know now that a relationship with her would never work from researching the religion but I would still like to be her friend. I have always enjoyed philosophy so I kind of look that researching this religion interesting

The more I learn about this "religion" the less I like it! this is such an orweallian organization . When my friend told me she never went to college because a job at the libray is like having a masters degree. She lied the real reason is the Big A. It is to bad that such a twisted organization could have such control over people.I kind of forgot about her and since having a medical condition now I have been going to the libray more often. I have always been interest in philosphy and wonder if they have every read about the Enlightment. Question what your are told to believe
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
