for as long as i can remember i think i've always fought for the underdog in most situations i've come across in my 33 years of life.....right from back at school, i would be-friend the looser in the class, because i felt sorry for them, and maybe because they were different.
i guess i stood out as different at the same time and maybe that was the case why, not going into school assemblies, us witnesses would sit in the "enterance hall" and have to go in after the whole school had said the lords prayer and hymn, in we'd file past all of the school all 9 of us, and i can remember other kids hissing "jo-bo" "jew" "jo-vo" etc etc at us as we filed past whilst everyone sat down.
i'd still hold my head up.. in my teens it sort of got worse, and of course i was coming to terms with my own "what direction am i gonna take in life" scenario.....this too created conflict, not just with my peers, but later with my family with all the "haven't you got a girlfriend yet" "whats wrong with you" comments....still i'd steel my resolve.. in my 20's, i started my nurse training believe it or not after being pushed into a building and construction course that i quickly abandoned (suprise it wasn't quite me, despite sticking it for a year) 1994 i qualified as a r.n despite family and friends looking at me in a strange way (you're a man, you can't possibly be a nurse!!
Why do people keep asking a JW why he posts here? I think it is harassing and confronting.
The fact that a JW posts here is something that should be cheered! It shows a JW that at least wants to hear the opposing side, other than dismiss it out of hand. It shows also a more open mind than most JW's. It shows he follows not every word of the society, he thinks independently! So the fact that a JW posts here should be celebrated, not atacked!

sometimes I too feel that when a JW dares to tip toe into this forum he or she is blasted away, people jumping on them etc. On one hand it is understandable but not very nice towards the JW.
I like JW's to be here, to try to defend the doctrines and practices of the society. Sofar you have been mild and thoughtful as to your approach but you have been mocked and ridiculed often by others. And that's sad.
Hopefully an intelligent individual will see through all this and makes an informed decision based on the information presented by both parties and personal research. The decision lies ultimately with the individual and we should respect that decision wether it is pro, con or something in between.

right.. i woke up, not able to breathe and see a thing, and i grabbed the phone to call my boyfriend, but i must have misdialed ( thank god, cuz he'd think i was nuts otherwise) and then i tried to scream, but i couldn't.

my attitude to god and religon no longer plays an active part in my life.
what i mean by not playing an active part is that i never prayer for help when in trouble or understanding as to lifes purpose and a personal relationhip with god.. maybe because iam scared to take the risk my prayers might not be answered and i d be disillusioned.although if things go right i dont mind saying "thankyou" i will never say "please".
Even as a JW I had troubles with the concept of prayer. I created to many contradictions in my mind.
For example: thanking for food. How can I thank God for the food on my plate while in another continent people are starving? I mean: the fact that I have food is more a matter of luck, being born where I'm born. If God had a hand in supplying me with food then he is not truly impartial for other people are starving.
Another one: asking for protection. Why would he protect me? Hundreds of JW's died in concentration camps but surely God would protect me from the bully living in my street. Doesn't make sense huh?
On one hand the society teaches that God does not intervene in earth's buisiness and on the other hand that he does anwers prayers. On one hand they theach that all the miracles perfromed by other groups are bogus because miracles stopped after Jesus, but on the other hand claim miraculous protection during persecution etc.
