  For those that were/are SINGLE in the ORGANIZATION, did anyone encourage you to marry a WEIRD JW?

  bizzybee's comment about the elders encouraging her at 19 to marry the 40+ yr old widow with 4 kids made me remember similar stuff.. the elders encouraged me as a young brother to stay single.

  some of the younger sisters seemed to like me, but the friends in the congregations i visited always wanted me to marry the weird ones.

  they called them "spiritual.

  Well I recall a couple of guys....one well reminded me of my ex.... full of hot air, arrogant and thought he was god's gift to women....I dated him for a bit got engaged then I thought I'm out of my mind, worried about getting disfellowshiped for breaking an engagement but kicked his sorry ass to the curb....and then the elders approached me and said we are glad you called it off....whew what a relief I had horror stories of the sanctity of engagements...

  the other was a sweet real nice guy, his parents were constantly trying to get me over for supper....there just was no click there for me just friendship.. I did feel bad in away for him he couldn't seem to do enough for me in helping but I did not have feelings that way.

  My experience at the District Convention today - Appreciate your comments

  i know i am the one to constantly harp on this board how the organization has lost its "swagger" and the baptism and attendance is going down, and people are waking up.. not so fast.. the audience cried, i mean a lot of people cried when they played some of the songs from the new songbook.

  some had bethel singers who sounded pretty good singing them.

  so many after the program were saying how touched they were.. then the new release of the book showing how the book of acts prefigures the organization today.

  Wow, that is quite a turn of events really...but then the assembly is high geared for the emotional side of

  people don't you think? The gathering to gether, visiting...drama, high intense talks with lots of emotion and feeling...

  People are worried they are deperately holding on they need sometihing tangible....

  They need hope more than ever...

  Hi all, I'm back...and it's DC time - Damn!

  been almost 8 months since posting...peeked a little -- but i was becoming consumed by the big "w".

  my wife's the jw, but i hold the hatetred!

  i had to back away...since then i've managed to remove old publications(she stores them now), i'm an opposer now, so i've not really had any elder contact, she's still doing bs & fs, but not much talk.

  Sounds like it has been a little tough these last 8 months...

  All I can say is that relationships do go through a change when one is out and the other

  does not follow. The only thing I can say is to keep doing fun things together so she does not feel she is

  losing you there along with the witness she once knew.

  under what corcumstances will it be in your best interest either to ignor the situation, express your anger, or somehow demand justice?

  Years and years ago my family Dr. gave me a piece of advice, I was having lots of trouble from interfering relatives....

  This was the best advice I have ever been given........

  If you can not resolve the problem get them the hell out of your life.

  So I did....never been happier

  Swearing - Do you?

  one of the things you're not supposed to do as a witness is swear.......but sometimes the definition of what a swear word was went too far.

  for example in my family at one point my parents decided for a little while that we should stop saying the word "bum" after having used it forever.

  this did not last as a swear word for very long as.........well i mean .....come on!.

  i love music, it has literally helped me through some of the darkest spots of my life... sometimes the music helps me to make it through, other times, the lyrics are so inspirational.

  as if i can't give up.
