  i guess i'm a bit slow when it comes to xjw news, i just heard that mr. bowen is having a silentlambs march.

  i wish i could afford to be there but i'm broke.

  Wow, I'm glad to see so many are going to be able to make it. I'm with Stinky. It's too far, I'm too broke, and flying gives me the heebie-geebies. I even looked on Amtrak, but 20 hours in a coah seat would be a killer (did it in the late '80s to go tour Bethel and it was pure H***). Amtrak wants $890 for a sleeper, if you can believe that. No wonder they are going broke.

  Too bad the march is not set for 9/11. I heard on TV one airline is giving FREE FLIGHTS on that day to make sure everyone is not afraid to get on airplanes. I think it was SPIRIT airlines who ran that ad. (The airline's name began with an "S").

  Is everybody taking a "stuffed [toy] lamb" as suggested at B.Bowen's site about the March?

  I'll be there with you in spirit, and hoping we get to see you guys on TV news.

  You guys are so funny! -- That was an interesting article. I never knew about Ali, etc.

  I read on SIlent Lambs that the WTS wrote at some point in time that if blacks would pray they could become white. Is that a direct quote from the society? If anybody's got it, I'd love to see it in print.

  Jehovah's Witness Fireman Buried

  about 2,700 people attended the funeral of the brand new fireman, who died in a training exercise in osceola county, florida.

  david iannelli, (paper says volunteer) from the world headquarters of jws gave the eulogy.

  notice that there is no flag on the casket.

  News report from FLA:

  Last week in Orlando, FL, two firemen were killed during a training session (an unexpected back-draft killed them). I didn't pay too close attention to the specifics until yesterday (Monday 8/6/02) afternoon's news. The younger of the two firemen's funeral was held Monday to begin at 5:30 pm, and the news channels covered it again and again at 5, 5:30, 6, 11pm, and again during this morning's early news, 5, 5:30, 6 and 6:30 am.

  Evidently the younger of the two firemen killed, Dallas Begg, was a JW, and this was mentioned quite a few times in these TV news reports. They said he was a rookie fireman working his second shift, and had only been on the job for 8 days when he was killed. He was 20 years old. He had only been married 4 months. His father said he had loved people and wanted to help them from the time he was a boy; and that he was not even old enough legally to have a drink when he was killed.

  The funeral was held at what used to be called the Tupperware Auditorium in Kissimmee, FL. Now it is called ____ Performing Arts Center (or something).

  All three local news channels reported from the funeral and stated and showed film clips of the 2,000+ people at the funeral: "family, friends and firemen from all over the country, some from as far away as New York," per the reporters. The pallbearers were firemen from his "firefighting training class." They said the services began 45 minutes late due to so many people coming, trying to get in and get seated. They stated there were hordes of firetrucks "from all over the state" at the funeral, and the firetrucks led the procession to the cemetary after the services, and they showed a map of the procession route.

  His father said "it's a nightmare we cannot wake up from." They showed pictures of his high school graduation and said he had been an honor roll student; they said he had been a saxophone player and drummer. Another fireman read a poem/letter at the services which the wife, Rachel, had written. When this fireman spoke, he thanked Begg's family for allowing him to be part of their family, and for raising Dallas as they did, as that is why this man loved the young man. The newscaster said again that Dallas was raised as a JW and was always helping/caring about people "from the time he was a young kid."

  They showed the inside of the auditorium numerous times, with the closed casket on the stage, flowers, podium, and Kingdom Melodies playing softly in the background. The newscaster mentioned that normally a fireman's funeral would have American flags all around and draped over the casket, but because Dallas Begg was a JW, there would be no flags since JWs "do not believe in flags and things like that," said one of the reporters.

  They stated the Fire Chief would be presenting the widow with the Gold Medal of Honor for firemen.

  In the 11 pm news, they showed all of the above, along with the brother at the podium giving the memorial talk (Ionelli was his name, it showed), and Ionelli said how Dallas Begg had "tremendous empathy for people..." and then the reporter cut in saying Dallas "was devoted to his work as a Jehovah's Witness;" and then back to Ionelli giving the talk saying that besides helping people, Dallas Begg "wanted to be a firemen because of the schedule, 24 hours on and 48 hours off, which would give him the time he needed to devote to his [pause] ministry..." [Ionelli was speaking v-e-r-y slowly, btw, which I suppose is normal for funeral talks.]

  The investigation into the deaths will begin next week, they said. The other fireman who died was an 11 year veteran, a lieutenant, and his funeral had been held on Saturday.

  Comment: He was a nice looking young man with a crewcut. I did not know any of these JWs since I do not live in Orlando but within the Orlando news TV-range. Of the entire memorial talk, I thought it was interesting the news only showed the comment about a fireman's schedule. (Of course, I couldn't watch all three channels at once, so kept flipping to catch as much of what each was showing.)

  i have contacts with quite a few dubs....still and can talk freely to a small number.

  thats the conclusion that i've come to.

  at least ones that have been in it some time.

  Puffsrule: LOL on the JustJW posts. I get their posts via email and I saw all of those earlier today. Applebee and the one named Ben are the two "critical thinkers" who keep the apostate-like posts rolling in. Just recently, however, Ben seemed to buckle under and turn soft, and hasn't posted hardly anything for a few days. A lady named Carolyn jumped right in on the sticky debates, which I thought was good. They also keep going round and round about their so-called Debate Section. Previously it was stated by the owner, I believe, that it was OK to discuss these (anti) JW things, but now the regular dubs are back whining about it. Why don't they learn to stay OUT of the Debate area, is what I keep wondering! The comment I liked the best today was Applebee who told them something like, "You can't tell you're under mind control WHILE you're under mind control..." ;)

  More on this topic: When I was a dub, I had NO IDEA it could be garbage. If anybody else thought so, I sure didn't hear about it or know it. Guess I was a ditzy-dub.

  Human behavioral reason behind present WTS crisis?

  halfway through the article scientists unsure what triggers stranding -- illness, perilous coast may be factors (link: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2002/07/31/mn185450.dtl) the thought occurred to me, what if there are complex human behavioral reasons beyond anyone's control behind the jehovah's witnesses organization's rapid moral disintegration?

  Great material Derrick! and eeerily true, as eerie as the sonar sounds of whales under water...
  looking up from the depths of the sea thru the seaweed and hazy shadows, sort of like looking thru coke-bottle glasses... they (dubs) can see but they don't realize it's all a blur... It's like what I read in another forum today, "When you're under mind control you don't know you're under mind control."

  I definitely would have stayed (fear of Armageddon) if I hadn't of fallen in love, L-U-V.

  As far as the Dazed Russians, since I was a dub in the late 80's, I never watched TV or the news... missed it, but I understand your description of their disorientation, Siddha.

  Libra-spirit: At first I thought your post was describing the JWs, but I now see you are literally talking about the poor whales! That is the saddest thing I ever heard. They want to die because they cannot hear their own sonar! :-( How utterly SAD! -- Speaking of the Navy, maybe they are conducting below-the-ocean radioactive explosions and have burst the poor whales' eardrums!

  It's like the society just wiped out the entire lifespan of Moses or Abraham (120 years) as being of no account whatsoever...

  They all three have been disfellowshipped for causing divisions, yet not one person has left the faith because of their actions.

  However, on the contrary... HORDES have and are leaving the faith to due the DIVISION-CAUSING actions of the GB themselves...

  The committees produced letters written by members of the Service Department along with other elders. Watchtower has just created a new policy, that is, letters can now appear as eye witnesses to disfellowship in face of a denial.

  Don't you just love religions (and corporations) who just keep making up rules as they go along, for whatever situation pops up: "No problem! We'll just create a NEW POLICY as needed." (New Policy Dept. d/b/a WTS Lawyers):

  "Will the [WTS] throne causing adversities be allied with you while it is FRAMING TROUBLE by [New Policy] decree?

  They make SHARP ATTACKS on the soul of the RIGHTEOUS ONE, and pronounce WICKED even the blood of the INNOCENT one.

  But Jehovah WILL become a SECURE HEIGHT for me; and MY GOD the ROCK of my refuge.

  How is the Service Dept. "eye witnesses" to this? Do they do the collecting of all newspaper articles and media videos of comments by the Bill's-Barb's-Joe's among their congs, and then write a letter to the JC stating, "In our humble opinion, from the articles/videos we've seen, we are 99 and 44/100 percent sure these comments made by these individuals WOULD cause divisions among the brethren..." ???

  Agree that this is really not a surprise, but I'm with those who say the world IS watching the WTS more closely than normal due to the PEDOPHILE ISSUE and, therefore, will more than likely also take note of the AFTERshocks such as this.

  And if anyone is familiar with Fat Jack's writings, since the WT religion is nothing but a "social deconstruction" experiment anyway, it only makes sense the WT will keep acting more bizarre and irrational in its dealings with its members as an "experiment" to see JUST HOW FAR THEY CAN GO and yet have the sheep keep following them without question...

  My heartfelt condolences are extended to BB&J. Like the three young Hebrews, you are not falling down at the foot of the gold pillar of the WTS, so you can EXPECT to be thrown into the firey furnace, yet you will step out of it intact to the horror of Nebuchadnezzar (who should be going completely insane any time now, crawling on all fours in the field eating grass).
