Family members of molested

who here has had a family member molested by a jw?.

my neice was molested by her jw step father.the elders went to court in his behalf.the congergation banned together and sent an avalanche of letters to the court, stateing that he was a good clean christian.the judge believed them over my 11 year old neice.he was sent back to live with her.. this was at an english speaking congergation in salinas california.if anyone knows an elder named deitrick(not sure of the spelling)beware!!

This is truly so gut-wrenching. Each new story I hear, even though I've already read hundreds, brings a new wave of intense disgust and anger. I ditto whoever said, "I hope all of you have emailed your stories to silent lambs."

True: Most people are such ditzes they don't know how to handle abuse, so they just DO NOTHING. -- Bad Move! And shows COMPLETE IGNORANCE.

True: Even worse are the Super Ditzes who BLAME THE VICTIM.

True: Still even WORSE, as well documented by your stories, is the OLD BOYS CLUB/Patriarchal MENTALITY within the Org, that allows this endless stream of abuses to proliferate and continue.

Yet the society thinks it does such a GRAND JOB of "educating its members."

Thanks, Quotes, for the info. I betcha every single JW pedophile/pervert also has a computer which they surf nightly online to get their thrills in between getting their hands on the next innocent JW kid. No doubt they hide their PC's in the closet when the "friends" stop by for a chat.

Wouldn't hurt to zap a quick note to this organization sending them the WTS website and the Silent Lambs website, and just saying, "Keep watch on this!"

I think I'll do that right now...

Catholic Church/JW media connection

i've spoken to several people regarding the catholic churches child abuse scandals.

i always bring up the issue as it pertains to jw's as well.

the comment that seems to end such discussions is something along the lines of:.

Bill/Silent Lambs and SF and others have been dropping BIG HINTS all over this board that something HUGE is in the works, so I wouldn't go to sleep YET thinking this is all behind us. I remember when I first came on this board last fall, and some were dogging Bill because Dateline had not aired yet, which I thought was pretty lousy of them (I mean it was obvious the 9-11 WTC events took precedence for a long time thereafter). And when Dateline aired, who was it that dragged their feet? Not Dateline, but the WTS who took six months to provide a reply to Dateline.

So, Have Faith! I have no idea what's coming, any more than the next person. But I think it's good strategy it is kept under wraps until showtime, the reason being (per a SilentLambs post) so the Bethel lurkers will not get a heads up beforehand of where the next missiles are coming from. Can't wait!

Minimus, LOL on the joke from the comedian. IF ONLY it were true (that there were too many witnesses among the witness abusers...)

As far as the C.Church, they only faced up to the issue AFTER YEARS OF PRESSURE. So I wouldn't give them a crown of glory. Remember the scripture to the slave, "You are doing exactly what you SHOULD BE DOING." And the Cardinals of the C.Church have instituted discipline on some of their pedophiles, but they have YET to punish THEMSELVES as the MAIN deceivers and manipulators who covered-up the dirty-deeds of their lower-priestly-brethren.

However, it is a good Topic For Discussion, as all of you have described, if/when you get the ear of anyone interested in the subject of child safety, be it JW or Catholic.

Hey, I'm a little slow.... I don't have cable TV, so just this afternoon got to watch the video that Trauma_Hound set up online. It was GREAT!!! And I just now zapped Connie a Thank You, and did ask her to put in a good word to her hubbie, Maury, to do a show about it. (All media coverage is a good thing, but I hope Oprah picks up on it FIRST!) Anyway, here's what I zapped to Connie:

Dear Connie: A belated THANK YOU for the piece you did on Heidi Meyer, Amber Long and Bill Bowen last Wed. 8-14-02, re: the sex abuse COVER-UPS and disfellowshipping of Silent Lambs like Heidi and Amber, and their advocates, Bowen, et al. Your coverage was kind and compassionate, and the ladies expressed themselves so well. I loved how Heidi kept replying, "ABSOLUTELY!" Amber looks like an angel who, one would think, would melt the hearts of the Governing Body members of Jehovah's Witnesses and prompt them to humbly ask forgiveness for the errors of their policies, their elders, etc. But, NO! No Humility Whatsoever coming forth from the Highest Ranks of the JW Organization in New York. Bill Bowen also spoke firmly, with unequivocal conviction. I trust everything they say having been a JW myself for 11 years, and a child sex abuse victim/survivor. The NUMBER ONE RULE as a JW is "NEVER EVER bring REPROACH on Jehovah's Name;" i.e., the Watchtower Society would have NEVER brought this out in the open, not in a million years. And that is how sex abuse proliferates -- due to such silencing and oppression/suppression. It NEEDED TO COME OUT, and thank you for having a share in this GOOD WORK. If anyone thinks Jehovah God cannot handle the truth, they surely do not know God very well! Thanks again, Connie, and if your hubbie, Maury, has an empty slot for one of his shows, would you put in a good word for the Silent Lambs so maybe Maury will do an entire show on the subject? The S.Lambs need all the exposure they can get in order to encourage victims to get help, and for the WTS to change its policies. Thank you.

Thaks morris for posting/sharing this bit of Insight into the Mind of Current JWs. I like hearing these first-hand accounts, like with your Mom. Even though their comments tick me off, I also KNOW w/o a doubt I probably would have said/felt/thought the same kinds of things (the "rationalization" that you speak about = it's just a FEW cases being USED by Evil-Hearted Apostates because they have a GRUDGE against the society, blah blah blah). I suppose that's what really ticks me off - knowing I would have "bought the baloney," too... I'll never forget the "fear and trepidation" when I would hear about "apostates." I swear my heart would pound rapidly at the subject.

However, being that I am "out" now, I am FREE to fight for the lambs since there is no "fog" around the issue AT ALL from where I sit.

Btw, parents usually do NOT like to hear about abuse. It makes them feel guilty, even if they won't admit it (speaking from experience).

Your Mom asked, "Why is he talking about this? He wasn't abused?" referring to Bill... -- Thankfully for 5,000 JWs and former JWs, Bill DID SPEAK out, since he was ONE GUTSY Elder (out of how many elders in the world?) who finally said, "Enough Is Enough." That's why Mom!

And you hit the nail on the head, morris, when you wrote they have "No comprehension of the crime, the trauma, the need for compassion to the victim sitting before them." SOOOO TRUE!!!! Granted, the world in general had no comprehension either, 25 years ago, but things HAVE CHANGED! The knowledge IS and HAS BEEN out there for anybody who gives a hoot and cares to educate themselves. And saying things to Amber, like, "Maybe you did something to provoke the abuse..." I WANT TO STRANGLE ANY elder who even THINKS that way!!! Arrrgggh! Those girls are SO BRAVE! I admire them to pieces!

Silentlambs March: Controversal Idea?

problem: jr brown & watchtower have managed to create an image problem for bill bowen & silentlambs.

Another idea as far as dress code could be that EVERYONE (who is fortunate enough to be at the March) wear the Silent LambsTee-Shirt Bill has at his webshots site. Slacks/jeans or whatever with the SL TEE SHIRT, which is the important thing: Advertise, Advertise, Advertise the Lambs and their Message.

Maybe that's what they already plan to do anyway (i.e., wear the tee shirts)...?? You know, like when the throngs of people who participate in the Walks for Breast Cancer, and they ALL have on those pink tee shirts... that's the vision I'm getting now with the Silent Lambs Tee Shirts... Whattaya think?

I agree with Nanoprobe and the original suggestion, that not only to the JW's but also to the world, FIRST IMPRESSIONS count for a lot. If this is aired on TV, lots of people will be watching, worldly people, JWs, etc. etc. I haven't been a JW for 12 years, and I am still shocked when I see how sloppy "worldly people" dress in general, on TV, in court rooms, even in churches. -- If you were going for a job interview, how would you dress? What do the "experts" say about that:? "First Impressions are everything" (to a prospective employer -- unless, of course, you're applying to be a plumber or something). So what's the big complaint about "dressing up" for a few hours to show respect FOR THE CAUSE? and to "spite" JR Brown, to prove Stark a liar, etc. etc. Does Bill dress casual for the news coverage so far? Is the March not more important than a few hours at Wal-Mart? -- What if all the men at the March were in dress shirts and ties? The JWs watching on TV and/or seeing the pics in the newspapers will be so confused because they will think it is Bethelites who have come down from their Ivory Tower and are standing up for THE LAMBS.

Well, Nanoprobe, I wish I could be there. I'd definitely wiggle into a pair of panty hose and a suit or dress for the occasion. It seems the majority are against your idea, but I'm with your idea 100%, and for all the same reasons.
