I'd ask them to name them , if they are so convinced that there was an uninterupted line of faithful christians from the 1st century to the time of Russel , and that God has always had an earthly channel then simply name them, 99.9% of JW's wont be able to, if they cant name them then there cant have ever been a "channel" on Earth for over 2000 years and then there cant be one now.

"Jehovah ALWAYS had/used an organization". How would you reply?
by EdenOne inin a recent meeting with elders, an argument was used to the effect that jehovah has always [= throughout history] used, or operated through, an organization; therefore, the wts must be that organization today, since god must be using one.
naturally, i know what arguments i've used to counter that argument.
but i'm interested in hearing yours.

just watched it for the first time as I was avoiding it for obvious reasons, really well made shame she could'nt go the whole way with her mum and brother in exposing the false doctrine a lot more, like what were the "books" her brother had been reading etc? but the shunning , JC's etc were well made, wondering how they reconstructed the DC ? .The scene when she secretly spoke to her younger brother about "judgment day" being a lie and the final prayer to Jerkobah on the train were quite emotional!

JW CHILDREN GET PRESENTS ALL THROUGH THE YEAR. REALLY?????
by NAVYTOWN inis it really true that jw children get gifts 'all through the year', not just for christmas and birthdays like non- jw kids?
as stingy as most jws are, i find that very hard to believe.
plus the childhood magic of christmas and birthdays is totally absent in jw households.

that was the major problem about it all , the shame and embaressment ecouraged you to lie to your friends and what presents you did get over Xmas, it was only after major nagging to our parents that they made their wedding anniversary a present giving time but this was when we were in our teens, our parents were poor, my father worked but my mum was fundamentally lazy she did the odd part time shop work and never pioneered. The sad thing we used to see was a fairly wealthy family in our cong who had their "unofficial" Xmas on the 26th December there kids also got birthday presents as well, even all the years of being out of the cancer I've never developed any enthusism for Xmas and Birthdays.

I had various resons so ticked the "other reasons" box, the main gripe for me were the countless failed prophecies and the destruction of billions at the GT ,

wow , massive roll call of ex elders posting here, and just think of the hundreds that faded away from this forum since its inception , I was close to becoming an MS than found out TTATT, the BOE in our cong liked to fast track brothers who were "reaching out" it came at the right time for me.

the chairman of my JC (decent man, CO now) Jeff Woodfield was in his cong Brownhills ? Woverhampton area, he was interviewed on the local TV about why he was a JW this was just before 1975, and he said if the GT didnt come by 1975 he would rip his bible up, he was given a firm talking to and he admitted he "put his foot in it" I think he was in the same cong as Peter Knowles who I met at Woodfields wedding in the late 80's. Dont believe Dave Hill has been involved with the WTS for some years and still happily performs the Slade Xmas song.

we had a brother move into our cong , middle aged worked as a carpenter and was an excellent tradesman, charismatic, very good speaker , hand up all the time, and had a real heart felt way about the way he spoke and answered, speaking to my elder father he came from a cong about 30 miles away and had moved into out territory, as the months passed he ended up working on various homes in the cong as he did in our place , (fitted warbrobes etc) after a while my father explained to me that he was a recovering alcoholic but hadn't touched a drop for years, after a while he was remade up to an elder, my wordly neighbour popped into my place one day and was very impressed with the quality of the carpentry work this brother had done and asked him to do a few jobs in his place in which he he obliged, so after a couple of weeks I ended up having a beer with my pal and he told me that he was very pleased with the work **** had been doing on his place and that they had gone out for a few beers! I said that I was under the impression he was a recovering alcoholic, my pal told me no chance of that not only did drink large amounts he was also seen in the local store buying bottles of whskey! I was well out of the WT by then and if I'd had told any of the elders that Brother **** had fallen off the wagon I would have been classed as a disruptive gossip !
