90 minutes from Wembley ......
by The Rebel inwhich ever country you come from, if you are a football fan you know of the f.a cup.
because the f.a cup is the oldest and most prestigious cup competition in the world.
or at least that's the way it was when i was a kid.. now this wonderful competition has been cheapened to a non event.

as you say konceptual, the David and Goliath games can ensure financial survival for the minnows getting a tie against a really big club and does very season, I think we should be thankful to the FA and the sponsors that still make this able to happen, I've been to parts of the world that still show the FA Cup on their TV how many other countries can say that -

The FA Cup is still alive and well, no cup competition is ever going to compete with the PL/CL, but Wembley is sold out for every single final and almost mostly for the semi finals, its saved Arsene Wenger his job ! The Beeb have done some great coverage this season of the non league teams being shown live look at Salford City FC's run having 2 matches televised live to the nation, that would never have happened even a few years ago! -

Is the Reachout Trust about to fold its tent for good?
by slimboyfat inas for a few others here, i know the reachout trust in the uk played a part in my mental journey away from the jws.
i get the reachout newsletter by email and the last few mentioned that they are scaling back their operations because of financial shortfall and that doug is no longer taking a wage.
i also wonder whether mike and ann thomas are no longer associated with the reachout trust because i can't find mention of them anywhere of the website.

Slim, I dont know, maybe I didnt pay too much consideration to the thread at the time but as the years past and after meeting more and more folks that had dealt with them there seemed to be a common denominator as to why myself and the numerous other folks decided to have nothing to do with them any more, the reason being was there extreme Christian stance within their counter cult work, Awake to the Watchtower was a decent book though. I have spoke about my experience on other threads though, I think there is a few out there. -

a few things dawned on me at the time I started to make contact with them all those years ago about the early 1990's and certain things seemed to be purposely withheld from you when you begin the initial contact with them is the absolute allegiance they all have in their dedication to evangelical Christianity from Doug at the HQ to the numerous "area representatives" that were affiliated to them , I kind of felt they were very dishonest and certainly questioned their outreach methods, also this was the era of "exit counselling" which was very controversial at the time and still is, I was hoping that they could appeal to me in a more relaxed workshop style form of cult exiting regardless of a persons religious leanings, but it couldn't be further from the truth, I've said it before but Doug seemed to create a cult within a counter cult group, fortunately I only invested a few months and I was able to move on. -

Good news to report: Congregations merged because lack of attendance, publishers & field service
by Khaleesi inso it's official, i am happy to report that we merged with another congregation having the same problem.
why is it good news???
because people are either waking up, fading or just not buying into this organization any longer or walking away.... i think many young ones are just not buying into it as much, i see many in the congregation i go to very depressed and some i know personally going thru major depression especially the young "sisters" in their early 20s.... .

2 long standing very traditional congs been around for decades shared a nice quick build erected in the early 1980's folded in the last few years in my circuit in London UK, would never have thought it, the few remaining members were assigned to one local cong and the others a few miles further away
