something very symbolic making the memorial your very last meeting at a KH, it was mine, my fade started in 1992, I attended the 1993 memorial than the 1994 and almost walked out as it was starting and that was it, I never set foot in the place ever again. -

What TV shows were forbidden in your JW household?
by Funchback inin the u.s., three's company was not allowed.
it was explained to me that it was an immoral show because a man and women lived together and no one was married.
the sister who gave this observation was a family friend and we were newbies to the religion.. at least i somehow managed to watch the benny hill show undetected..

The Tomorrows People, deemed spiritualistic even though it was a kids programme, the TP could teletransport and apparently read minds, Dr Who and Star Trek were ok though -

Hello Everybody
by Thomas the Bill Engine ini didn't see an introduction forum anywhere but i thought it would be weird to start posting without first introducing myself so, here we are.
i'm 15, and i've been looking for a place to discuss my thoughts on the religion that i'm pretty much stuck in at the moment.
my mom and dad divorced over their different beliefs over a year ago (my mom is jw and my dad is an very knowledgeable apostate, so you can see how they would fight over it), and since then i've stopped believing altogether.. just thought i'd say hello.

The Curious Case Of Brother B
by pale.emperor inthere was a case in my old congregation that is shrouded in mystery that i'd like to share and get your views.
this is something i've wanted to talk about for years but it's strongly shot down if you even try to talk about it in my old congregation.. it involves a certain brother b.. in my old congregation this brother was well liked.
as a kid, we all knew him for being fascinated with dinosaurs.

could be a whole number of issues, there was one brother in our cong who got DF'ed some years back, I quite liked him, he had a great sense of humour and you could look at him and just by his facial expression he would make you laugh, he ended up being DF'ed about the time I was fading and not attending meetings much at all, one particular Sunday meeting I'd had enough after the talk and I noticed he was getting ready to leave as well, I caught up with him down the road and called out to him , I wanted to shake his hand and have a chat, he was'nt really wanting to chat, he bid me farewell and walked away, he did tell me that my father did sit on his JC but wouldn't elaborate any further, it was the last time I ever saw him, I'd heard he sold up and moved away with his jw wife who had stayed faithful to him and the org, the rumour was that he'd been having an affair. Fast forward over 20 years later and I catch up with a bro who was in my old cong and had been out for almost as long as me and we get talking about our old times in our old cong, he tells me this brother was arrested for exposing himself in a public park in front of young boys. -

Favourite Comedy Quotes
by LoveUniHateExams ini wanted to post a serious, profound quote in stillin's thread but my mind went blank and i'm pretty crap with serious quotes anyway, so i put a jokey quote from the red dwarf computer holly: .
it's better to have loved and lost than to have listened to an album by olivia newton-john.. when a bemused lister asks why, holly replies "because anything's better than listening to an album by olivia newton-john!".
this got me thinking, what are everyone's favourite comedy quotes?.

Saturday Let the Games Begin
by Poztate inthe start of a new memorial season is upon us.
saturday is the day for the start of the invites to look but not touch the bread and wine.
the "observer class" is a belief unique to jehovah's witnesses.. along with the invite to the masses a special effort is being made this year by the elders to invite all the df's, da's and faders.. along with the invite a copy of the rtj will be left with them.. naturally we will still be treated as pariah's if we do attend but it is the thought that counts.. i am of the "fader class" as i don't wish to rock the boat with my wife and extended family.

I'm not known now where I live plus I live a few miles away from my old cong, but in the over 20 years I've been out I've not been called on nor have I seen a invite put through the letterbox, don they still do this?
