I had another chat in Croydon town centre yesterday, a very busy town and shopping area, every time I drop by there there is a cart so without wasting anytime I picked up a rag and engaged the two guys , this time I fancied a chat about their blood stance and I went to ask them how long the ban had been in force etc ( they claimed since the foundation of the WTS which I had to correct them on) , they eventually had to admit to my line of the conversation but one of the guys a youngish guy early 20's reasonably bright stated that the transfusing of human blood did not begin until during the second world war and that all blood transfusions consisted of only animal blood! I didn't know weather to laugh out loud( a google search that I did later shows that a physician by the name of William Harvey carried out the first human blood transfusion in 1628! British physician James Blundell carried out the first successful human blood transfusion in 1818 to a patient suffering from postpartum haemorrhage) we had agreed that the prohibition on blood started some time in the early 1950's, I gave them an illustration " you have two young familes in a KH the time was say for example the mid 1940's when blood transfusions are allowed, one of the young children of Family A suffer a terrible accident is rushed to the emergency room of a local hospital is suffering large blood loss and accepts a blood transfusion lives to a ripe old age and no more is ever said about it, fast forward a few years to the mid 1950's, Family B have a young family and one of the children suffers the exact same tragedy as what happened to Family A but because of the new teaching about blood transfusions being banned the young kid dies due to refusing of a blood transfusion," I ask them how unfair is that? by this time they are so tangled up in knots its very very embarrassing , the other guy spouts up that the lad that took the blood "would be dead in gods eyes etc!" I said I think you've misunderstood me, the child of Family A I mentioned took the blood sometime in the 1940's when there was no blood ban, I think he still failed to understand me. Its sad and rather pathetic that the average R&F have such a useless knowledge of a doctrine that is so fundamental to their core teachings.Guess what? they both packed up the cart and bid me farewell an experience I've been seeing more and more of when I talk with them! I commented finally I must be the only guy in town that can make the jw's run away !

Watchtower Doctrines JWs most commonly don't believe
by Diogenesister inthere was a recent thread on another site where posters maintained that many of the *most* long-standing jw's don't believe at least one official watchtower doctrine.
i've even read reports from bethelites saying they've heard bethel overseers say they don't believe some watchtower theology.
this made me think - i believe there are a few official doctrines that are common for many jw's to be either in denial about or simply not really believe ( often one and the same thing).. i'd say these are pretty high in the ranking:.

the more I delved into a resurrection into a paradise earth the more I thought how insane the idea was, the numbers alone cant add up, the prospect of these mutant beings being bought to life are the fantasies of a mad sci/fi fan with a very deranged imagination, utter madness. The Doomsday scenario of The Big A is a close second behind, more mind numbing madness.

I'm giving up in 2017! (More steps in my fading)
by Skepsis inwhen i joined this site at the beginning of this year, i was serving as an uber-zealous regular pioneer and ms in a foreign congregation where the need is greater.
i was giving public talks and having parts at regional conventions.
had started to have doubts but i hadn't time to focus on them, i simply was overcharged with so many activities and things to do.. i started by quitting pioneering but couldn't think i would give further steps for a long time.

I remember those heady days in the early 1990's when I mistakenly let them into my home

Went to a Different Kind of Convention This Year
by Saethydd inmy old congregation's regional convention was the week before last, and for the first time in 20 years, i wasn't there.
instead on the very same weekend, i went to a geeky fan convention called magic city con.
i had loads of fun there, i cosplayed as a jedi and the doctor (which is my current profile pic).

great news, how great attending a convention because you genuinely want to be there rather than going somewhere that is just a waste of time and your energy, like every single WT convention that has ever been held

Comparing Total Numbers Baptized During the 1990s and the Last Ten Years:
by steve2 insometimes, comparing raw numbers provides a more clear-cut numerical picture of growth or otherwise than percentages.
below are the numbers for peak publishers (rounded off so that 4,1 represents more than 4,100,000) for each year throughout the 1990s and those for the last ten years.. year: peak* baptisms.
* peak publishers abbreviated - simply to show annual baptisms in relation to peak publishers.. the main point: .

they constantly contradict themselves rather stupidly with quotes like " the love of the greater number would cool off" and " the tiniest group becoming a mighty nation etc, plus the "the entire world would know about the kingdom of god that only they have been commissioned to dispense" which becomes more of a joke every day the world wide population grows even more, and the huge continued growth of Islam, its either one thing or another, one thing that cant be overlooked is their terrible growth rates in first world nations, no amount of creative accounting can deny this.
