Great book along with The Gentile Times reconsidered had possibly the biggest influence in my leaving the WTS also Penton's Apocolypse Delayed is a classic also

Have you read "Signs of the last days?" by Carl O Jonsson?
by Awakened at Gilead inafter seeing h4o's thread today (about hassans book), i decided to open up this one.
i have only been out of the org since 3-29-08 so i have a lot of reading this past month and a half.... i'm halfway through reading the "signs of the last days" book.
in some ways it has impacted me more than some of the others i have read.. as i read cofc, for example, i could see that the inner workings of the gb showed that there were not spirit guided but very misguided.... as i read isofcf i could see logical biblical arguments that refuted jw syances on blood, holidays, jesus, etc.... i read the gentile times reconsidered, and was very impressed with the logic about 587 bce.

Great letter Paul and Sam wished I'd made one now although my story was somewhat different, would be great for Faith to read both sides of our stories?
Faith? Who is Faith ? She has finally made an appearance on JWD

JW religion is not all that bad really
by veen ini know we all have issues with the borg, but really i think there are far more despicable religions on the go, namely american style evangelical christianity.
i'm watching a film called 'jesus camp' as i type and all i can say is any of you idiots who post on here who say you left the jw's and have now found jesus are totally retarded.
you really need to get a grip on reality and stop needing religion as a crutch.

Veen , the WTS is bad, very bad and quite easily the worst out of all the bad ones, how many Dubs have died after abstaining from blood over the years 1000, 5000, maybe 10,000? so that makes Waco and the Jonestown tragedies seem minor, and the SilentLambs cases over the years is that bad? Yes it is! The WTS a safe haven for active paedo sex abusers, rapists etc, but the WTS isn't that bad is it Veen!

What is the best question to ask a witness
by ImFreeatlast inlets have a free for all .
i would say why dont you have a book study anymore but that one is done to death... we had a witness recently and i asked for the latest jw only mag (he didn't realise i used to be in his cong... have i done that good a job at fading?
) it was a laugh to see the two of them struggle to come up with an answer.... ok lets here the best you can come up with, there has to be some better than mine, what question will leave them stuck for an answer...... .

2 members of your Governing Body were reprimanded and moved to other exclusive over sea's post's for vulgar , repulsive , homosexual acts yet were not excommunicated (Leo Greenleas and Ewart Chitty) would it be acceptable for God to continue using a religious organization that covers up such terrible conduct?

Old JW memories.
by nicolaou inwith all the talk about the book study recently i couldn't help recalling the old 'group' we used to go to from about 1970. i remember the smell of those books, the drone of the study conductor and the struggle - often in vain - to keep my eyes open.. i remember my old ministry briefcase and the kitchen of the sister where we used to meet for field service.
she was my best friends mum.
i can still feel the biting wind at twickenham conventions and the overheated, dehydrating stuffiness of bowes rd assembly hall.. i remember shuffling the snow with my shoes at the doors of homes i didn't want to be at.

Oh the memories;C/A first I can remember was the Town Hall in Wimbledon which was a lovely grand old building, the they bought the old cinema in Dorking where it stayed for many years , it was great there and it included a donut kiosk and an ice cream one as well, and as it was in the town center there was a KFC across the road usually frequented by the colored Dubs who weren't too keen on the assembly food, (my old man and alot in our hall ran the catering there) also there was a great Leisure center across the road and a couple of times he took us swimming, they sold it (why I will never know) and bought the old Youth Custody center in Hays Bridge and turned that into a state of the art facility, (got baptized there) but was never as good Dorking and it was miles from anywhere, so you were imprisoned there for the whole day
My memory of Twickers goes back to a young kid when they had those evening sessions and 8 day international events as well , the old stadia was still stuck in a pre war time warp until it was re vamped in the 80's and is now a superb state of the art stadia, but the old days of walking from the car parks to the place you would get the stench of the stewed horrible coffee , but the Bacon baps were great, and the food production was epic until the simplified food arrangements came in ........
