I feel the watchtower's definition of independent when it relates to others carries a negative connotation. Their independent relating more to defiance or rebellious. It's almost like they are using the word but twisting the definition. If they were to call it anything else, it would clearly show how unbalanced their view is. Independent in itself doesn't carry any negative or positive meaning. It is a state of being which could refer to a person, a creed, a function, or whatever. The word itself is innocuous. Watchtower just loads it up like a baked potato!

Rebuttals for having an independent attitude or spirit.
by Emery ini am looking for rebuttals on this statement.
i find it reprehensive when they preach this from the platform, they do not want jws (who are individuals) to have any individuality.
they want people to be their personal robots with no free will.

Watchtower: Evangelical or protectionist?
by DJPoetech indo you guys think the jdub's message is becoming more protectionist?
so to speak, are they becoming more concerned over apostate encroachment and the things that go bump in the night than actually getting jehubber's word out?.
morning everyone!.

30 and Out?
by Black Man in30 that seems to put jw's at a cross-roads?
i've known so many who have decided to abandon ship at either the age of 30 or either after 30 years of being baptized.
i fall into the former category.

Greetings! My first post
by BU2B inhello all at jwn!
i have been a lurker here the last few months and have been going through the process of researching both sides of the story of jehovahs witnesses.
i was raised in the borg, got married and now have a young child.. my wife is very much dedicated to the organization and will justify anything the "slave" does putting it off on the borgs imperfection.

I visited relatives who are non JW and they see I have made a positive change since leaving the Borg:)
by andys ini am over here in south dakota on vacation, the last time i saw all my relatives was during my grandmothers funeral which was about 2 years ago, during that time i was still in the borg, yesterday i was visiting all my non jw relatives and they were all shocked that i have changed in a positive way and they all know that i have left the borg, my aunt told me i am alot more happier and have alot more self confidence, i still have family members in the borg my 2 brothers and sister and parents who all shun me on a certain level and also i told all my relatives what i have gone through after leaving, i told them about the shunning, during christmas i called my dad and i was told that i am not allowed over at their house and my dad hung up the phone and didn't even say goodbye also at the time my roommate was listening to the conversation since i had my speakerphone on and she was very shocked about the shunning.. i want to say thankyou to all the people who have helped me mentally out of the borg, all the youtube videos that people have made, plus jwn, if it was not for the internet i would have still been in the borg, i have to say the internet is one of the most greatest thats how i did all my research and totally clearing out my mind, also now i have some new skills, i have learned how to do critical thinking, plus also have learned so much more about the world around me, because i slightly suffer from a form of autism i have been able to work at that more and now understand so much more about people around me and also have made alot of new friends:).

WTBTS Elder & Ministerial Servant Problems
by JW GoneBad ini attended a recent ministerial servant k m school on the east coast and the main school instructor mentioned among other things (part entitled: 'objective of the km school course') that the total number of ministerial servants is seriously less than it should be.
in times past the ratio of m ss to elders was much more than it is today.. in the u.s. apparently the total number of elders is 88,500+ as opposed to m ss 65,000. the numbers show & numbers don't lie: the society is running out of spiritual men.
the instructor stated that this is a new downward trend that has (in so many words) the society worried.. the next speaker (part entitled: 'why we must be spiritual men') added that in his years as a traveling servant the pool of m ss has always been much, much larger than it is today.

Numbers don't lie.
In my little micro-cosm, I was 35 when I left. Heavy grooming for MS was the order of the day. They wanted me to study more and I studied the bible right out of the Watchtower! LOL!
Happily out for 4 years and counting!

Ok... just got pissed!!
"The individual members of any organization must ultimately bear the responsibility for their own actions, particularly when the acts are so flagrantly against the morals and principles of the organization and society."
The suggestion that they have nothing to do with an individuals decision is sickening. Its double speak. I was flippin baptised not in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit... but in recognition of being one of Jehovah's Witnesses... Your individuality is washed off of you in your baptism. You come up out of the water, not a son of God, but a flippin cult member.
If that ain't a guilt trip placed upon your very soul, I don't know what is!!!
