Did You Ever See this in Your Congregation ? Mind Control - By Hassan
by flipper inin steve hassan's book , " combatting cult mind control" it states : " a famous experiment in conformity by dr. solomon asch demonstrated that people will doubt their own perceptions if they are put in a social situation where it appears that the most confident people in the group are all giving the wrong answer to a question.
another psychologist , stanley milgram , tested people for obedience to authority and found that over 90 percent of his subjects would obey orders, even if they believed that doing so caused physical suffering to another person.
milgram wrote : " the essence of obedience consists in the fact that a person comes to view himself as the instrument for carrying out another person's wishes, and therefore no longer regards himself as responsible for his own actions .

Flipper I gotta ask is it because of cult mentality or saving one's *ss? I think if this elder you talk about acted like he did he did it to save his position and maybe keep himself out of jail.

One thing it proves is that they don't know what they are talking about. They flub up one prediction after another, and then they blame the flock for getting too worked up when they run into hardship for following the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger's advice.
Where are these "flub ups"? Is there some kind of a list on here that I didn't find? If the Governing Body reexamines the scriptures and have a new understanding is that a flub up?

I still believe its the truth. I just dont want to be a ministerial servant and I do not want to be an elder. All of my family are Jehovah's Witnesses. I know if they find out I am here I will be disfellowshipped. Cuz the net is evil ya know?
I don't get the issue with blood. I've been reading here and seems that others think the same as me. If we can have all parts of it why can't we have all parts together. I'm not saying I am questioning the Governing Body or their authority, it just seems like it doesn't make sense.
TY for all of the hi's.

Memorial 2008 Protest - will you join me?
by besty inthere's been a few threads about how to campaign against the wts - various suggestions including appointing a charismatic leader, (do they get appointed?
i thought they just kind of appeared, self-appointed), printing a brochure(ok we're in the 21st century lets make it a blog, cheaper and easier to distribute), calling the bethel and boycotting a meeting.
which all got me to thinking, what can i do, and what if everybody else (or a lot) could do the same?

Hi everyone. Yeah I'm baptized. I don't know if I want to not be one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I really just want my folks to stop pushing me to do more than what I want to do. That's why I moved out on my own.

Public Talks- What do you think about the changes?
by Connaughty inwhat do you think about the reduced time of the public talks?.
i actually find it pleasant, it makes it a lot easier to tolerate some of the boring speakers.
but what about the service.

It gets me out of there faster and I am all for that. If they stop the book study that would be sweet too.

Hi. I still go to all of the meetings and go out in field service as much as I can which is about 2 hours a month. :) I moved out of my parent's house to get away from the 24 hour a day griping about me doing more. I don't want to do more. I don't even want to go to the meetings for crying out loud.
