For those without Mothers 2008

mothers day can bring up many issues for some of us.

for some their mothers have passed away and the opportunity to say i love you in person is forever lost.

for others, our mothers are lost to the wts.

My first mothers day without you..I don't have the words to describe how much I wish we celebrated mother's day all of these years. I didn't need a special day to show you I loved you but I bet you did. You were my mother everyday of the year, day in and day out, if I needed you and even when I thought I didn't. And now tomorrow I will bring flowers to your grave and pray to God to wake up from the nightmare I'm in. Wherever you are I love you, and will be giving you my love and respect in the best way I know how tomorrow, and everyday...

this was a great idea..I could write pages about my mom, things I want to tell her but paying honor to our mothers is so important..I realize it now so much more..my advice to everyone is resolve any problems you have with your mother, no matter what they are because when they're gone everything you didn't say will seem unbearable.

Anyone here do any sort of volunteer work?

i've been thinking about becoming a foster parent, or doing some work at the local shelter or something.

just mulling over some ideas.... anyone have any experiences in it?.

The past two years on spring break I've gone down to New Orleans for Katrina Relief with my college. We've helped build people's houses and clean up parks and such. It's a wonderful experience and the people are so greatful. I also volunteer at the animal shelter near my house, however, I only do it once in aw hile because I have a tendency to bring home animals...hence my three dogs, three cats, and misc birds and rodents..heh

But definately do something, you feel great at the end of the day, knowing that you made a difference.

i got this in an e-mail from a childhood friend that is still an active jw.

i found it to be very upsetting and was wondering if anyone else gets the kind of e-mail forwards from friends/family that are still in?

and how you handle it.

so I suppose I should feel this way about my father who is "worldly". Because for twenty years he stuck by my mother and took care of her...how can they generalize like this...its so upsetting I read this and I was furious. My father is nothing like this, and most other "worldly" men I know aren't either....grr

Help Me Please !!!!!!!!

i need some support and advice with my situation and hope you don't mind me going on a bit because i feel wretched!

i hurt so much with my jw family relationship and find it so frustrating that whatever i do or say doesn't make any difference.. my son and wife had a little girl 9 months ago, my first and only grand child and i love her so much.

when she was born my hubby and i helped them a lot wiith buying all the expensive things she needed, as my son hadn't a well paying job as being a die hard jw he believes in the "education and career isn't what you should be doing propaganda" put out buy the wt.

I am so sorry about your situation...Just losing my mother to cancer I hate it when I hear stories such as this. If I could move time back I would spend every second with my mother because right now I feel like it was not nearly enough, even though I saw her everyday..

Maybe you could focus on all the sacrifices you have made for him in your life..let him know that you did these things because you love him and that will never ever change. I wish somehow he could realize but it seems that you never realize how much someone means to you until they are not there...its an awful catch-22.

I wish you luck..I think the idea of writing him a letter is a good one, letters are captive audiences as the person must read the whole thing without a rebuttal..just try to reinforce the idea that you sacrificed so much for him, you deserve to still be very active in his and your granddaughters life.

Also, have you tried talking to your DIL?? or will she have no part of it? Just wondering because maybe there is something you could reconcile with her without your son around, understand where she is coming from better..just a suggestion.

noticed that i'm seeing all these things that i didn't see before... like when the wt or revelaton book states something, or when the bible states something... i mean, i never noticed this many things before... before, i noticed only a few major doctrine issues.

but, now, i'm noticing things all the time.... i mean, i'm trying to take a break.

i'm trying to not pay attention... but, they are saying things that really piss me off and i'm wondering to myself, what the hell was wrong with me... how did i not notice it before???

what you've said is exactly how I felt when I started going back to meetings..cognac, I consider myself intelligent as well..it hurts that something you've believed for so long can be so wrong..I never believed in mind control before, but I think now it really is true. Since I've started going to just the Sunday meetings again it seems I find at least five or six things in the talk and even more in the watchtower that I'm like, "hey, wait a minute, that's not what it says..." It's very confusing and hard to keep my mouth shut..I can only hope it gets better soon..for everyone..

I Miss My Mother

she looks like maria callas.

she died of leukemia four years ago because, you know, she didn't want to have blood transfusion.

when she died, i didn't cry at all, though she died with my right hand on her chest.

I'm so sorry about your mom...I lost my mother a few months ago...if there is anything I can do to help let me know...I'm also very sorry that she died because of the blood transfusion thing, my mother would have died either way but it doesn't make it easier. Lots of positive thoughts your way!

My cat has diabetes

i took him to the vet yesterday because he was drinking alot of water, peeing alot, and losing weight.

i walked in and said, "my cat has diabetes".

the vet said, "well ma'am, what makes you think that?

I had a dog with diabetes for years. He was 11 when the vet diagnosed him and he lived to be 15. My mom and I alternated giving him insulin shots twice a day, he didnt like that very much but they kept his blood sugar pretty normal. My mom even got those PH strips that you're supposed to test your pee with to make sure our dog wasnt spilling too much sugar in his urine (my mother loved that dog more than me I think) Anyway, one thing to watch out for is that sometimes diabetes can make animals go blind. Our dog was blind the last year of his life but we couldn't bear to put him down. Watch for signs of that but everything else before then was normal, he lived a healthy life until the blindness!!

we had a guy who used to bang on about natural remedies.. at the doors and meetings he would tell everyone what was wrong with them and what to take to remedy it he even told the brothers of for sell coke at the assemblies.. however there was know remedy for his mental health apart from that he was a fat little porker who looked like you could grow spuds on his teeth and washing wasnt big on his agenda last i heard he joined scientology.. we had 4 sisters in the congro pregnant one nut case confessed to the elders he was father to all of them.. one sister used to attack the po's wife in the kh then stand up through the meeting and abuse at the speaker after that they would call the sike team it wasnt uncommon for her to go door to door at midnight.. last i heard she became a counsellor..

boy do I have a story for you guys... hehe..when my now fiance and myself started dating about two years ago there was an older woman in our congregation who seemed to take particular interest in my boyfriend. Mind you, she was early 50's and he is in his early 20's. We tried to keep our relationship 'under wraps' because as I'm sure you all know, once its made known that you have a significant other your every move is scrutinized under a microscope. Needless to say, that lasted about two weeks before said older woman somehow found out about us. My boyfriend was at my house and we were watching a movie CHAPERONED with my mother and father in the livingroom with us. My boyfriend gets a phone call from said woman, drunk as anything, cursing and screaming at him that she loves him and he should be with her and not some tramp like me. He hangs up and she proceeds to call back ten bazillion times. He finally picks up the phone and she tells him to go outside my house. We peeked out the curtians and there she was in her car!!!! Ok so, by now I'm freaked out. He tells her to stay the hell away from us and she speeds off. She later gets arrested for drunk driving and hit with about seven different offenses. Come to find out, this was all MY fault because my boyfriend and I should have let everyone know we were dating so as to have more supervision so something like this didnt happen....
