Looking for Rutherford Interview
by muzzy incalling all research geeks, please help if you can.. .
in doing some research on joseph rutherford, a couple weeks ago i came across an interview he gave to a missouri newspaper talking about his upcoming theocratic convention in st. louis in august 1941. the newspaper may have been the globe-democrat.
i remember it had a black-and-white portrait photo of rutherford, and the caption said 'this is their leader.

Nathan Homer Knorr - Post your story about him here
by VM44 inthere have been much research lately into the biographies of ct russell and "judge" rutherford, the first and second presidents of the watchtower bible and tract society, but not so much research into the biography of the third president of the wbts, nathan homer knorr.. as there are many people still living, and who also post here at jwd, who knew nathan knorr personally, it might be worthwhile to start a thread about the life and personality of knorr.. so if anyone has any knorr stories, please post them here.
i will start off by posting some basic biographical information.. --vm44.
nathan homer knorr.

1928 The Messenger PDF
by cabasilas ininformation on how to download the 1928 messenger in pdf will be given at the bottom of this post.. the messenger was the name given by the watchtower society for an occasional watchtower publication that reviewed conventions for bible students/jehovah's witnesses in the 1920s to 1940s.
there were issues published for (not a complete list) 1928, 1931, 1938 and a couple other years.
(perhaps someone else could give a complete list for us?

Thank you for this info. I was surprised when I saw the Rutherford photo in the Jan 2003 issue of the Awake! magazine. Has anyone seen the Rutherford footage from archive.org?

Did You Know ....? [Rutherford]
by RR in1. that judge rutherford had a mistress.
2. that he died from a fall down the basement stiars where he cracked open his skull and the rats fed on him.. 3. that his son, malcolm, left immediately after his father became president and lived the life of a hermit, never to speak to or about his father until in death in 1995.. 4. that the judge was a womenizer, alcoholic and racist and dabbled with the occult.. _______________.

I read in Wikapedia that Rutherford did fell down the stairs and was partially eaten by rats. That is according to the San Diego Autopsy report.

Old JW phonogragh used in door to door - in what years??
by Gayle inhttp://cgi.ebay.com/portable-kameraphone-phonograph-jehovah-watchtower-/190467777187.
jehovahs witness kameraphone, a portable phonograph.
they were called kameraphones because they looked like box cameras, and were imported from europe and used by jehovas witnesses to play bible discourses while doing their rounds.

The best thing about the web is seeing photos of history. It is the first time I had seen a transcription machine earlier than 1936.

Joseph Rutherford and Burlesque
by Amazing inno one really expects 'perfection' of their fellow humans, even of those in high station.
our past president, bill clinton certainly demonstrated that men in high station can and do give into acts that are not accepted by the public at large.
likewise, i doubt anyone expects that joseph rutherford would be perfect, but we would expect that as a human, he had his ways.. what about "true" spiritual leaders?
