judge vera dubinskaya did not set a time limit for the study.. "this is nothing more than a determination to find experts who will support a ban on jehovah's witnesses," stated artur leontyev, defense attorney.

I would think that if anyone could see through this cult it would be the Russians. Reading the WT propaganda and finding and investigating the heavy handed methods employed by the "Governing Body" should bring it all home. I sure hope so. What they need to do is talk to US!!!! We could quickly enlighten them as to how tolerant the Party, I mean Society is. Wouldn't it be sad to live through one repressive group only to join another? Here's hoping they boot them out. Maybe the lies told in the Bulgarian agreement will be pointed out, or the subterfuge with the French in regards to paying the taxes, or perhaps they might want to avoid encouraging yet another fundamentalist group that sees them as part of Satan's world. The Russians have been through enough, I hope they dodge this bullet. Grunt

I would love to see every dictator taken down. I would like to see Zimbabwe free and its children healthy, I would like to see AIDS conquered and all evil done away with. I would like to see racial harmony. Heck, I would like to see a Paradise Earth with nothing but love between humans through eternity. Maybe that is why I fell for the Cult known as Jehovah's Witnesses. Sadly, that won't happen. The reason I SUPPORT this war in Iraq is because we were attacked. We were attacked by Moslem fanatics financed by rich Moslem people that hated us. Saddam hates us. He is rich. He's Moslem, or claims to be. He is an enemy who has fought us before. He has murals painted of the twin towers being hit by the scumbags that cut up the airline stewardesses, lied to the passengers and killed a bunch of secretaries and accountants, burning them to death or making them have to leap to their death from tall buildings which later collapsed on other innocent people. The ones who did this deserved to die. They did. I'm glad. I hope these get what they deserve. A good toasting or a long jump, or maybe just a bright flash and they don't get to hear the bang. While I don't like everything about the way this war is being fought,(they should have waited for the 4th Division) I don't have a doubt in the world as to the outcome in regards to the government of Iraq. It will fall. That is not in question. How many will die first is in question. If the maggots on those planes had only known how many of their kind they were taking down, they might have thought twice. On the other hand, they have helped a lot of brothers get their virgins. I will say that the world is a whole lot better off for their passing. Afghanistan owes them big time. So will Iraq. Maybe the greater good was served somehow. I doubt it. I hope every brave Moslem Warrior that wants to shoot prisoners between the eyes while they are tied, or torture some woman on an airplane, or kill an American, rushes right on in to Iraq and joins up. Like roaches, they need to be stomped. Some good people have already died there, the more of them we help along the path they have chosen the better I feel about the loss. I can't tell you how much I wish I were there helping get the job done. As for Iraq. Whether they are smart enough to get a good representative government or whether they fall back into another repressive government is up to them. Just like Zimbabwe. Grunt

The real victims of "peace"
by expatbrit inthe victims are the children, of course.. in 1999 unicef (the united nations children's fund) conducted a survey in iraq to determine the effect of sanctions on iraq, imposed by the united nations.. what had sanctions done?the surveys reveal that in the south and center of iraq -- home to 85 per cent of the country's population -- under-5 mortality more than doubled from 56 deaths per 1000 live births (1984-1989) to 131 deaths per 1000 live births (1994-1999).
likewise infant mortality -- defined as the death of children in their first year -- increased from 47 per 1000 live births to 108 per 1000 live births within the same time frame.
the surveys indicate a maternal mortality ratio in the south and center of 294 deaths per 100,000 live births over the ten-year period 1989 to 1999. .

All of you who are saying this war is about oil, or about maintaining an American presence in the Middle East are wrong. This war started in New York when the towers fell. Had those planes been left alone, those secretaries and accountants these Arab Warriors managed to burn to death or cause to jump to their deaths been allowed to live out their lives, then Saddam and his boys could keep up the game the French and Russians are profiting from and trying to keep going. Without the attack on New York the Taliban would still be beating women. Without New York the hoodlooms in the Phillipines could continue beheading tourists they kidnap without much fear. Without New York......none of this happens. With New York it does. Where does it stop??? I don't know. I guess that will depend in part on what the fools do next. If there is another New York, or a London or a Paris, then I imagine things will heat up quite a bit. If there is a Tokyo then it might leave the realm of religion and go nuclear. these are uncertain times. Always remember the reason we didn't take out this child killer the first time was because of Arab and other nations in the coalition who wanted conditions for their support. One more time for emphasis. We are in Afghanistan and will take Iraq because of New York. Grunt

What will happen is people that have doing without basics will get them. Money that has being spent on suicide bomber's families will go to Iraqi families. Oil money that has been being spent on weapons will be spent on infrastructure, education and medical care. A dictator will be ousted, a group of people will recieve their chance to have and maintain a democracy. Whether they can do that will be up to them. As in Afghanistan the US taxpayer will foot the bill to help these people. As in Afghanistan the average person will get more personal freedom, will not have to fear being flogged on the streetsb or just disappearing, will get to decide the details of their life. As in Afghanistan it will be paid for with primarily US and British blood. Our grunts will go in and along with them will come freedom. What they do with this chance is what worries me. Having been victims, I hope they don't victimize others, there is so much hatred over there that they may unleash on each other. I hope the rest of the "human shields" come to their senses and get out now. I hope he doesn't try to destroy the environment like the last time. I hope he doesn't use schools and hospitals to mount his anti-aircraft like last time. At least it will be over quickly. I just hope Bush hasn't caused casulties among the troops by waiting so long. He spent too long arguing with people about something he had to do anyway. Grunt

Gred Stafford Not committed--too afraid of being DFd!
by cyberguy inive just completed the reading of greg staffords latest book, "the three dissertations on the teachings of jehovahs witnesses.
" although i appreciate his point-of-view overall, i find that his writing is often difficult to follow and at worst, not forthright on doctrinal issues.
basically, i find his writings rather anemic, hes just not forthright; he evidently doesnt want to be dfd!

After seeing him on this board in two personalities, one bragging on what a good job the other was doing, I haven't haven't had much use for the guy. He lied and got caught in it. He was more or less chased off the board by another Witness who was threatening to turn him in. Didn't show much class in either his dealings with those he was debating or his accuser and blackmailer. I would never want him to get a penny of my money. Grunt

Got My First Diesel. But...
by Englishman ini finally decided it was time to throw away my decrepit austin montego and get something for work that was a little less..well, tatty.. i need to carry ladders and tools and things.
however having had the experience of losing (stolen, actually) the tools from a van on 2 occasions, i know the value of having a car for work that has at least got a boot large enough to be able to hold my gear, without actually advertising the fact that, hey look, easy pickings!.
so, a car is what i needed.

Hi Englishman, Hi Englishman, I have a 6.2 in my GMC Suburban and have really enjoyed it. I always let the lights cycle off and on a couple of times in cold weather and never give it any fuel until it fires up. If you aren't careful you will burn up your starter. If your vehicle is like mine you have two batteries. If either is weak it can keep it from cranking well. A dragging starter can keep it from cranking well also. I would have my batteries checked, if they are ok then I would have the starter checked. I think your problem will be either the starter dragging or a weak battery. Diesel's are loud and nasty but I love mine. I pull a trailer with my jet ski hooked on the back of it and still get fair mileage. Good luck and may it run forever. Grunt

Helping a group fight a common enemy, as was the case with Afghanistan, does not mean we are imperialists. We helped the Russians fight the Germans, it didn't mean we owed Russia anything eles. When a place is being invaded and someone else steps up and gives money and weapons that doesn't imply they should also do everything else. When you harbor people who attack others, that makes you guilty, hence the attack on the Taliban. For what the dope growers in Afghanistan have done to the US we owe them punishment, not help. If the new government there is friendly, holds down opium production and so on, then out of the goodness of our hearts we can help them. We owe them nothing more than the help we already gave them in reversing a losing fight and giving them a victory.
You said, "Rather America, like any other nation, only gets involved when it's own self-interest is involved." I agree. Where is your problem with that? Why is it "self-righteousness" when we strike back at those who struck us first??? What would you have us do? It seems you hold us to a higher standard than other nations which to me implies you are the one who somehow sees us as more "righteous." We don't have to turn the other cheek. We can slap back. We did. We will. It is just good for them that they didn't manage to set off a nuclear bomb, as the reaction would have been far more drastic than it has been. Two governments will have fallen from the slap at New York. More probably will fall, the entire budget of the US and the world has been refocused.
The yellow dogs that killed the secretaries and accountants, that tortured the airline stewardesses are running all over the world and being killed all over the world. I would indeed say the chickens have come home to roost, some have been fried up, others set in the cooler in Cuba. The only thing that can and will be laid at our feet is their heads. If they manage to kill some more civilians, then more fire will be brought down on them and those who support them. This is the pattern in Israel and the same mindset is what we are dealing with. These people strike out of hatred for all Christians, you and I are "crusaders" to these fools. Theirs is a misbegotten, fanatical cult and it can bring only pain to all who deal with it and death to its devotees. There is no defense for such people. Killing women doesn't make you a warrior. Killing the killers doesn't make you an imperialist.Grunt

Intuit:
You think we are "occupying" Guam? Or Puerto Rico? Maybe you should bone on up your current events. We are NOT there by force. Look at Guam's internet site, get a feel for the place and then tell me they want us out. What they want is a LOT more of us IN. Puerto Rico could become a state or independent if it chose. The reasons for not doing so are commercial, taxes and such, some of my best friends in the Marines were from Puerto Rico and they were as patriotic towards the US as I was/am. As for having bases in the Philippines, have you ever heard of Subic Bay??? When the Philippines asked us to give up this prime base that we really needed and still need, we left. We do not OCCUPY any of the places you mentioned. We pay through the nose for our bases in most places. By the way we also have bases in England and a lot of other countries. A base does not indicate occupation
Don't fall for the media hype and anti-US propaganda so easily. Check some of your facts yourselves. For instance check the Spanish rule of these places we liberated. They killed off the citizens of Guam and most other places with disease and war (Ponce De Leon had six thousand Indians shot at one time when they tried to revolt) and then imported slaves to make money off of. The people who live there now are NOT natives of those places in most instances.
We ask for permission to send troops into the Philippines to help their forces, as it is an INDEPENDENT nation because we backed out and let it be. Read your history and your current events and you will find that we have helped a lot of places become independent and that we spread DEMOCRACY and FREEDOM.Don't just listen, read for yourself and think for yourself. If the Twin Towers had not been hit, if those poor accountants with their ties flapping in the breeze as they jumped to their death and the secretaries who burned to death had not been killed by these Moslem fanatics then we wouldn't have kicked out the Taliban and we wouldn't be about to kick out Saddam. The fight started with those brave souls who charged a group of armed men one at a time and caused them to send prayers to Allah and a plane into the ground instead of into the White House or some such place. It will end when the price has been paid for those actions and when we have made more such actions less likely. It may be a while. It may deteriorate into a situation like Israel's. I sure hope not. For everybody's sake.

Foreword: the last attack on the US came from terrorists in planes. I know these people can't afford a real army or navy, they can't launch a real attack. They can however blow up buildings and given time and enough attempts, they have a high failure rate, they will even be able to kill a lot of American civilians with either poison or a dirty bomb. They can only do that with money and support. We can't cut out all of it, but we can cut out a lot of it. We can't kill or catch them all, but we can kill and cathc an awful lot of them. There are a few hundred sitting in Cuba right now, some trying to kill themselves, that would love to be killing us. Iraq, Iran and a lot of moslems in other lands will lend support too. However the arabs are a fickle crew, when they thought the Mother of All Wars was going to be an actual fight, they were hooting for Saddam. When he got his poor misbegotten army destroyed and it was all a joke, all the cheers stopped. I guess they didn't want to bet on a losing horse anymore. The more of these types that get knocked down, the more countries who back them and give them weapons that get toppled, like Iraq and Afghanistan, the higher the threat is to them the better for us. Hitting them over there keeps them from being able to throw as many attempts over here. If you think the US can be isolationist, you need to think again. It really is a small world, as this board itself attests to.
Bigboi: "The policy of extending a nation's authority by territorial acquisition or by the establishment of economic and political hegemony over other nations.
Ever hear of the Spanish- American War? The Boxer Rebellion in China? Before the 1890's, the Mexican- American War?"
Are you trying to say that due to these wars the US has acquired territory in these countries and now has an economic and political hegemony there??? Do we still control any of China? Spain? Mexico? No. The places we freed from the Spanish we gave independance too when they were ready for it. Did we after defeating Spain, occupy Spain??? No. Did we keep Okinawa after all the blood we spilled taking it??? No. We are not an imperialist state. Places like Germany, Japan, Spain and many others are the best proof of this. The last thing we want is to take another country. We would go broke giving them food and medical care and trying to rebuild their roads. I am afraid this is what will happen in Afghanistan and Iraq. I don't think we can afford the 15 billion to Africa for its AIDS but I do want to help the people. I just hope it doesn't go for more private jet planes for the leaders.
