I am pretty much full Wiccan and am surprised at how little people know about the religion. They toss some tarot cards around, see a ghost, a movie, or do some superficial reading and assume they know everything. Most problems come in when you try to apply one religion to another with the blind assumption that you're right. This is the same hypocrisy that the JW religion uses. I think there is a difference between saying that you don't believe in something and saying that something is wrong. Here is a link to a FAQ that might help disspell some misconceptions.

It is not my place to pass judgement on others whether they be Christian, Muslim, or Jewish. However, we're all human and whether it is our place or not we do it on a regular basis. I guess I just try to find the balance of it all for me. I often hear Christians talk about people not being christian because it is the easy way out. I always found this statement funny in a country full of christians. I don't think any path to spiritual enlightenment is easy. I do, however, think that most people choose to be christian because it is convenient. Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Any specific questions feel free to email me.

i' so tired of this.

sometime, i'd just like to say goodbye cruel world but, it would be too easy to do this.

when i was in the borg, they were telling me that when someone go out of the org, he have a lot of problems and that's exactly what happen to me.

You are definetely not alone. It took me almost 5 years to feel somewhat normal after being deeply depressed. I went to other churches and found they weren't nearly as bad as I was taught. It really depends on your personality as to what would be good for you. JW are right about the hardships of exJW but it is not because you turned away from their religion it is because you have been programmed. I had no social skills to deal with the outside world. Although I'm new this seems like a safe place to come and not be judged. I think you'll find that to be a pleasant change from when you were a JW.

this post is for any of you out there who have questions but have been afriad to search for answers outside of your organization/religion (this applies to any "christian" religion - not just jw's).

as for the rest of you heathens - no response please (tee hee - just joshin' .

i have been df'd for many years but really had no desire to go back to the bible until about 2 years ago.

Or you can be like me and study the origins of the bible. I started a Christian and ended up a Wiccan. Regardless, it is good to see someone doing research on their own. The JW religion is full of oxymorons. Kind of like studying christianity at a christian college to prove the bible it true. To find what you truely believe you have to be able to go outside all of the selectively exposed resource material. You may not like what you see but if you can accept the origins of your belief then I'll think you'll be happy. Just be willing to understand other people and what they believe.

well, i often shared with benjamin the things i learned through this board, not just the serious stuff, but also some funny fluff.

but most importantly what i've learned about human nature - ex-jws are, in the main, just ordinary people like him and me.

although some of you are extraordinary (in a nice way!).

Well to put it bluntly you are an evil apostate parent. You have steered him away from the true knowledge of God that only the Cartoon Network can provide. Seriously though, I believe it to be your job to protect your children. Which is why I'm sick to my stomach to see JW's letting their children die because of the whole blood thing. I might as well reveal a bit of myself here. I'm now Wiccan after my 12 year search for spirituality. I only plan on teaching my daughter enough of the bible to remain alive at school. about the many falacy's of the Bible. You can't run your childs life but you can do what is in your power to protect them. It sounds like your kid is pretty smart anyway.

Hello Spidy, I'm new here as well. Why don't you tell the elders in you congregation that you are visiting this board and see what they say. If you can accept that the organization as it is is nothing more than mind control and just like the friends you have then by all means stay a JW. But as I've said before, the grass is not only greener on the other side there is less BS.
If you're happy then I'm happy. However, if you are truly looking for honest discourse you may be in for a rude awakening. Others here are far more intelligent than I when doing religious debate but even I have little trouble exposing the many false hoods in the JW organization. Otherwise, good to see ya.

i just discovered this place tonight.

i've been out of the "truth" (haha) for about 12 years and had no idea there were such places like this.

i'm sure that this could have helped me through my 5 year post df depression.

The gsx is for the car I want but can't afford. 1970 Buick GSX. The 1138 is from the movie THX1138. And the whole username was put together about five years ago after getting frustrated at trying to pick a name that wasn't already taken.
I actually live in Bremerton, Wa so it is a bit aways from Spokane. I don't recognize the name K. Hayes. I was a regular at the Graham, Wa congregation most of my life, at least until 1990. I did go the Puyallup, Wa kingdom hall for awhile as well. I know some people in the area from the old days but mostly have forgotten names over time. Of course my mom still comes over and has to tell me about her JW adventures in Field Service.

Prejudice

it would seem to me that an organization that preaches so strongly about brotherly love could be so prejudice.. i have been d/f for just about seven years, and it wasn't until a couple of years ago that this occured to me.

remember how we couldn't spend time with people from school because they were "bad association"?

or you werent supposed to spend too much time with "worldly" relatives because they might be a bad influence?.

My parents wouldn't talk to me for a few years. I was fortunate to have a sister that left the JW so I had someone to talk to. The main thing to remember is that JW believe that the world revolves around them. I hope also that you told your Aunt to leave if she had such a problem. Even to this day, 12 years later, my mother doesn't understand why out of 5 kids none of us are JW. She has her skewed reasoning but the real "Truth" it seems is much too painful to accept. Also, as from my own post, I didn't even know that these places existed. From the posts I've read this seems like a good place to find support. I certainly hope it helps with some of my lingering pain. It's amazing that after 12 years and a total religion change that the JW programming still manifests itself now and then. All I can say is Blessed Be. There is a good life after JW.

I just discovered this place tonight. I've been out of the "TRUTH" (haha) for about 12 years and had no idea there were such places like this. I'm sure that this could have helped me through my 5 year post DF depression. I live in Washington State just for the sake of reference. Don't know what to say as I feel a bit weird even discussing the JW religion. I was raised a JW since I was 5 until I got DF'd at 20. Lots of stuff happened in between but I'm not too confortable discussing all of it. But I can say that I'm happier now than ever before. I've got an awesome wife, a great 10 month old daughter and everything is great. Now I just need to get my Mother onto the wagon and all will be good.

did you ever get busted for something that you really did do when you were a dub and get hauled in, just to sit there and deny what you were brought in for?

and then feel really good and not quilty when you pulled it off because they believed you?

Never did, I guess that is why I had a "bad attitude". They'd ask me, "Are you taking Karate?" Me, "yeah." Then 20 minutes of articles from the stone age with experiances of complete morons.
Then I get caught for getting drunk and they ask this question.
"Do you think you have a drinking problem?"
I said to the main elder, "I'll answer that as soon as you answer my question. Do you STILL beat your wife?"
If there is one thing I can't stand it is a hypocrite. I got DF'd while others were doing the same things, they just lied about it. I made it a point to get as graphic as possible about my "fornication" since I knew what was coming. To all those out there that fear Disfellowshipping, don't. The grass is not only greener on this side of the fence there is less BS.
