This is my only source of emotion toward the WTS, anger. Otherwise, I really don't care if they all burn to the ground, continue on their happy way, or start a porn business. Years of my life were wasted in the belief that going to College would be useless. When I did go to Community College they had a couple Elders come over to "council" me on the dangers of higher education. I truly believe I would have been in a much happier place sooner rather than later if it weren't for the Borganization. I've been away from the cult for awhile when did they change their policy? I was DF'd in 1990.

Are there other religions w similar beliefs to WTS

in particular the belief that the soul does die at death, (its not eternally tormented) belief in a paradise hope and other similar doctrines of the wts.. i'm curious as to just how unique the wts is.

they claim to be the only ones with their particular set of beliefs but its something that i never really researched all the years that i've been a jw.

Strangely enough I had a co-worker who was Orthadox Jewish explain his religion. Mainly because I don't get this "we hate Jews" mentality. They don't celebrate any of the holidays, including birthdays and such. They believe Jesus is Gods son and that he was the Messiah. Now he could have been pulling my groin but I do know that there are many different styles of Judahism.

i've been out of the loop for awhile, thank god.

last time i was in we got a talk about how 2/3 of the young people were leaving the "truth".

No. I know it's in NY. I've been out of the loop for awhile, thank god. Last time I was in we got a talk about how 2/3 of the young people were leaving the "truth". But the number of JW was increasing, figure that one out. I was wondering if anyone had any idea on the rise or decline of the cult. Also, what kind of state do you think the cult as a whole is in. My hope is that it falls like a house of cards but there are the hardcore JW's who will never leave.

Jehovahs witnesses 3rd world religion?

are jw's going to turn into a basicly 3rd world religion?.

hardly any new converts in western land , and lots of children leaving or not taking it seriously.. people in pourer countries need a hope , lack education , and maybe look up to people in western lands and their ideas.. so will bethel soon be in africa?

Well there are different forms of Wicca. I do see your point about being deity based. I don't know how other covens work but I use the Goddess and the God as being two parts to a whole. Any deities used such as Isis, Diane, and such are merely vehicles to the supreme energy. It's kind of like a christian praying in front of a cross, picture of Jesus, or with their bible in hand. They don't believe that the cross, picture, or bible IS God but a device they use as kind of a reference point to communicate with God. In this way allot of religions are alike. Buddhists don't use a statue of Buddha because they believe the statue is really Buddha. They use it as a reminder and point of reference. I hope this clears things up a bit about me. The witches I learn with all believe in one supreme energy and that we are all pieces of that energy. We merely use the different Goddesses/Gods as vehicles to an end. Of course there are many different ways to do this and finding what is best for you is the most important thing. But for the love of the Goddess don't get pulled into another cult.

My only advice to my JW mother is, "Don't drink the Kool-Aid."

I really think the WTS should get into politics because they could spin some elders with goats picture. I agree that this Dateline thing will make no difference. The basic tennant that every JW is bound by is Hypocrisy.

Economy is on the Rebound

cnn is reporting that the u.s. economy grew at its strongest pace in more than two years in the first quarter, rebounding from our first recession in a decade.

gdp grew at a rate of 5.8 percent in the first quarter, after growing 1.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2001.. "the economy didnt just slide out of recession, but surged out of recession," said david kelly, economist at putnam investments.. anyhow, good news for anyone who was concerned about a possible economic collapse.. .

But, but, but...this must be a ploy by the God of this world Satan. How joyous that as JW we do not partake in such good news for our suffering is for the WTS. Bwahaha, I know they jump on any knews and try and twist it for their needs. Since this is good news I'm sure it would fall under their, "Peace and Security" edict.

Just one more way to exerpt control over your followers. They want to remove as much possibility of anyone with common sense infesting their den of self...errr rightousness. That would also explain why my mother is a militant JW again after being inactive for almost 2 years.

Well I certainly don't recommend Wicca for everyone. As stated before it is always up to individual. Also it is much more demanding than secular religions. I love hearing all the stories here and am glad that there is no religous intolerance flaming going on. I think as exJW we've had our fill of intolerance. Rebelledat12, it is good to see that you at least had an open mind enough to study up on Wicca before you decided it wasn't for you. I also believe in a Great Spirit, I think that most "Earth" based religions have much in common it is just a matter of what is right for you. I also believe in Karma, so much so that that is the name of my daughter. Good posts, I just don't know what to add. Whether it be stories, advice, or perhaps some of you may have other questions.

Interesting. Most wiccans believe in reincarnation and that could explain how you knew the other guy. Reincarnation is not only the most accepted belief on earth it is hard to explain. I use the example of energy not being able to be destroyed. As far as Deja Vu, it could be some type of intuition. I'm a pretty cynical and skeptical bastard so I try to look at things from all angles and decide what makes sense to me. If anything you can attribute Deja vu to quantum physics...another you in another dimension just completed the same task before you and the two of you cross too close to each other and the other self's mental imprint transfers to you. Whew, and I thought explaining reincarnation was tough. :^)
