  Good thoughts for tough times

  i'm finally getting to a point where i can read the bible without having the wts lean over my shoulder telling me how to read it.

  here are some thoughts:.

  although i no longer consider myself a witness, and have not joined any other christian religion, i occasionally read the bible, particularly jesus' words, for comfort.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

  

  T herefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.

  L.D., youre absolutely right... Catholics simply dont shun and the jws shun for everything...

  Even their lord and saviour jesus was baptized at the age of 30!

  I was baptized as a JW at the age of 13... the pressure to do so was incredible and at that age, too much too handle...

  I now know that I knew absolutely nothing... I was just a puppet... but now I am truly free of them and any other religion as a matter of fact...

  I follow no one and yet I feel closer to whatever the deity or divinity may be, because I have never been happier in my life (shunning included!)

  There are no bad words... only bad intentions... so it really doesnt make a difference if you say fudge or fuck... shoot or shit... at the moment you said them the intention was the same...

  Here is the example. When my niece was about 3 and a half yrs old, she was playing and something didnt go the way she wanted she said "SHIT", a word commonly used by my sister (and the rest of our family!)... my sister heard her and said... "M... you dont say shit, you say Shoot instead"...

  A couple of months later my niece is trying to put something in the closet and it kept falling out again and again.. all of the sudden she shoves the door and says "fuck-ed that".. My sister says "M.. what did you just say?"... my niece turns to her and says " I SAID SHOOT MOMMMY!!!"

  no bad words, just bad intentions...

  The same things stated here can be said of almost every christian religion. I am with AAG and yadda here...

  When I left the wt I started an honest search and study of most religions. I compared various translations of the bible and what is more important, the various interpretations of different sects give of it. I also read the main books of the non-christian religions. My conclusion is that ALL are sects or cults in one way or another. ALL ALL ALL base their beliefs on books written by MEN who make believe the so called god inspired them and therefore, the books WERE written by god. (lowercase is intentional).

  By definition then, ALL follow another man's ideas, the basic building block of all sects and cults.

  I no longer believe that the bible or any other religious book for that matter is divine. Just another collection of human thoughts. I might as well believe in the tooth fairy or santa or the ring from the Tolkien series or pokemon or Chango & Yemayá!

  This is for me the only truth: regarding god and bible and angels etc etc etc.. it is all human invention; means to control other fellow human beings...

  in other words A LOAD OF CRAP

  Yes. This place has been for most of us a sort of intensive care unit for our battered souls... a sorta of JW Anonymous where we can share the burden some still carry...

  Most of the people here are nice and caring and willing to hear and share the wounds and scars of our prior lives...

  My hat off to all of you who, by just listening and understanding, made a significant difference in the life of anyone who read them here...
