If you really take a close, honest, unbiased look at any religion, you will find 'weirdness' as you call it...
From Kronos tearing limb to limb his children and then eating them to the god of the bible giving a son to a childless old man just to ask him to later on sacrifice him...
From Zeus turning into a 'golden shower' (eh?) and impregnating women to Mary the virgin...
It is all weird... after all it is religion isn't it supposed to be weird?

Brilliant Talk Yesterday
by Violet injust thought i would share this.........a brother who used to be a mercenary before he came into the truth gave the talk at the hall yesterday and he said that the bible was like jehovah's cv.....it told us everything about him.....so we can really know him.. he also said with all the governments and all the rules and regulations in the world, and nothing working at the moment, we should appreciate that jehovah only has 2 laws.............love him above all other things, and love our neighbours..........if only the whole world obeyed those 2 laws there would be peace without the need for armageddon................so its all down to humans why things are going wrong.. if we abandoned the planet tomorrow the earth would repair itself and there would be peace and harmony in nature.......... man has really messed up.. thank goodness we have had the chance to know jehivah and have a hope for the future!!.

Here is another one of those lovely dilemas that the jw beliefs put us in... How come birthdays are bad but 'births to be' (baby showers) are ok?
As far as your mother's way of thinking... I have one exactly the same and after years of struggling, I came up with the perfect solution: I do not invite to gatherings. Period. I only invite her over to the house for dinner with me and my inmediate family.
Her loss....

PROVERBS (of former JW's)
by AllTimeJeff inone of the books from the bible i still value is proverbs.
it's a collection of wise observations of life.
it causes me to think, which is a good thing.. however, i also know that among us former jw's are life lessons that can be reduced to that of a proverb.

My favorite scene happens to be the one where Ringo does a series of flashy moves with his gun right in Doc's face... Doc just pulls up the tin cup he was drinking from and starts doing flashy moves with it... pure genius..

Spike seems to me the 'male' version or alter ego of Reniaa... they just love the attention! You people continue to supply it to them...
