yesterday's bookstudy on divorce got my shorts in a bit of a knot.
apparently, according to the god's love book, a wife could consider legal separation from her husband if she is physically abused, but (get this) only in the case of extreme physical abuse, and if the wife's life is in danger.
WOW.
I'll definitely have to ask my daughter about this. I have learned that the only way to get an honest answer from her is to read her body language. When she does not answer questions with definite answers, changes the subject and gets fidgety, I have my answer. The only thing I can do at that point is to make comments about right and wrong, common sense, etc. and hope that she thinks about it when she's by herself.
One can only hope and pray~

now, interperters who are female must wear a head covering as if they were teaching, mot merely repeating for fear they might offend the angels!.
ATALAYA, I am not a JW, but my daughter is. I have given your religion the benefit of the doubt when warned about it. Instead of basing my opinion about your religion on the negative things others have told me, I have been researching it for years now. I have come to my own conclusion which IS based on the Watchtower's articles (both on their website and their magazines) and the New World Translation and I KNOW that what is printed IS NOT what is taught. What is printed is to attract people into your organization. What is taught with your countless hours of meetings is ALL negative towards ALL non-Jehovah's Witnesses.
It's always great to come to this board and read the comments of Jehovah's Witnesses because they ALWAYS end up either contradicting themselves, talking in circles, avoiding questions and eventually just disappear. I guess maybe it's because they have to go back and do their research on how to answer questions according to the Watchtower. It's really a shame, especially when they participate in so many hours a week in studying and yet they cannot answer the simplest of questions. Sad.

Hi leftchica. Stay strong and use the knowledge you now have about the real truth regarding that religion.
If anyone is rude, mean or disrespectful towards you, call them on it. That goes double if it's being done on your own property. Make them realize that regardless of the situation, there is no excuse for anyone to act that way towards you. You are a mature adult and they should act as such. . .especially if they are "representing God's organization".
I have to agree wholeheartedly with Black Sheep's #1 rule. Kill them with kindness and just keep asking them to "clarify" and "verify" your question. Use their own literature so they can't use that against you and make excuses.
I wish you well and hope you can resolve this and help your husband see the truth about the truth.

so the wt society was setting it's members up to seek friends only in the ranks of jehovah's witnesses.
basically in this article " maintaining friendships in a loveless world " - even from the title you get the impression the wt is showing that the world is loveless- but the jehovah's witnesses are not.

I wish my daughter was one of those giving them the finger! :) I hold on to the hope that one day she'll see them for what they really are. I'm sure she sees things that I have warned her about, but she won't tell me. Even though she doesn't celebrate the holidays with us, she does still come over during the holiday season and I know she feels the warmth and love. When the house is all decorated (for whatever holiday), I know it brings back good memories. Hopefully, she won't suppress those feelings for too too long.

bluecanary - I know that's exactly how that elder (who was calling my daughter) felt, until he heard me tell my daughter how inappropriate it was. We were going through a family crisis and he was in constant contact with her to "advise" her how to act to everything going on. It was sickening when I realized what was going on. When I finally figured it out, I asked her, "Shouldn't it be his wife calling you?" When he heard what I said, ALL OF A SUDDEN, his wife started calling. Gosh, he makes me sick. Sorry, I get that way every time I think of this elder. Like my name says, I'm Praying4Justice! :)
Oh yea, are there COs (or at least one) in every kingdom hall?

I thought that might be the answer. Now what about those darn elders who think they're it. If you know what I mean. What about phone calls. Is it OK for elders to make calls to young girls during the day and night? Is it not appropriate for women to fellowship with women, instead of elders to women?

What if someone who is not a JW, divorced, and in his/her 40s decides to become a JW and gets baptized. Do the same dating rules apply to him/her. . .chaperone and all??

Hang in there Newborn. Don't give up on her, and the love you have for her. . .and hers for you even though she's suppressing that love. I'm sure you go through mixed emotions, but all you can do is hope for the best that maybe one day she'll wake up and realize how much it's not worth losing you for. Even though she's not replying, it may be some comfort to know that she is reading your mail. Stay strong and continue to write her about events in your life that you would love to share with her and ALWAYS bring up the happy memories you both shared and how much you love her and that'll you'll always be there for her. . .no matter what. i have a few which still either anger me, make me sad or just make me grateful that i am no longer one of them.
