for those of you who have attended an apostafest.... have you come away from a fest with a different opinion of someone who posts here than what you expected?
have you ever disliked someone on the board due to a difference of opinion expressed here, and found out that, in person, you actually liked that person?
vice versa?.
Apostates are horrible jeanniebeanz ...horrible. Here's some pics from my last fest

I am kinda green in that top pic. KW, ya short haired bastard....I owe ya one now.
that was the title of a tract i recall distributing in the 1950s.
it responded to the demonising of so many people in the mccarthy period.
the answer seemed obvious at the time - no, dubs are anything but communists.
OzmeisterbastardAnd this is what intrigues me. On the one hand, it appears they are speaking of each person leading an individual life with freehold title of property and yet the illustrations seem to show a group style of living. In all honesy Ozzmeister, the by far majority of the witnesses description of life on a paradise earth is with single families together such as parents in the back round of their daughter petting a lion, others show a couple who are friends walking together with fruitbaskets in their hands, or just conversing while walking down a cobbletone path lined by lush vegitation, or a fewe men framing their brothers house. The point is, the picture in the tract you are speaking of, is not a true barometer of the witness view of life in the New System. Does it appear in that illustration on the leaflet for example that a group society is not envisioned?Nothing wrong with groups being together. Any christian literature portrays similar settings....heaven included. One thing to keep in mind is that they base their picture portayals of the New System from Old Testement scriptures in which they believe has a twofold meaning with the latter fold representing life on a paradise earth. So according to the visual evidence, do they really look forward to living under their own vine and fig tree? Id say yes, they do. I did and so did/do most witnesses. OK, it intrigues me, that's all. For me, I think the Witnesses have degraded the christian hope, but that's another story.......Lets say they believed in the "christian hope". How would you see the pictures now Ozzie. Angels bowing to Jesus with crowns on their heads, or sitting on thrones judging people, or catering to gods needs with wings on their shoulders. Frankly, The new System looks a bit more inviting if I had to pick between the too......Luckily I don't. Gumozzytormentor | |

as most informed jehovah's witnesses know, the wtbts is very good at painting a pretty picture of themselves by cleverly wording things to outsiders, yet not revealing the specifics of their beliefs.. below is an example from their official website regarding whether or not they shun members who choose to leave them.
they do not tell the public of the interogation they impose on members who wish to quietly leave ( fade ).. notice they mention how they are more than happy to restore those who exit, but fail to mention the types of questions they ask to those who leave them.. while they admit they shun those who verbally express they no longer wish to be a jehovahs witness, they do not tell the public they coerce that very statement from those who try to leave peacefully and quietly.

Anitar and surferdue.....thanks again for sharing what you have said....just remember you both have lots of company in the same boat as you both are.
Anitar....first of all, I thought you was a girl....lol
You my freind are simply in a stage of this show all ex-witnesses go through. I've been through many and am still goping through them since exiting 11 years ago.
I turned christain, had an intrest in informing people about witnesses I met in person when the situation presented itself, took in all the information I could about the witnesses through tapes, books, mail, etc. Then, left religion (though i'm still spiritual in ways), got tired of talking about the witness and just joked around here at JWD with little input about witness stories, then posted anti-bible stuff, then cooled it on that, ....then I once again get in the mode I'm in now and feel like posting something informative about the witnesses again.
The point is......we continually change in our thinking in all that has been said, from one side to the other. But one thing is certain in all of this is that peoples lives are being ruined by the WTBTS. Either materially ruined, mortally ruined, spiritually ruined, or emotionally ruined........and this needs to be stopped by the various means and efforts of others who realise all of this. I choose this method as it is having tremendous results.....that being exposing the Jehovah's Witnesses via the internet. Plus......you don't hafta confront the witness bastards in person

Anitar, I realise you mean well, and no i'm not upset with you, and I appreciate your kind words I guess I really don't see what it is you are tying to say however. You feel the watchtower needs to be dubunked, yet it seems you think this forum isn't a place to dubunk them but rather a place to show a christian attitude towards them and try to win them over
You said,
I think the best way to prove them wrong is to not give them the pleasure of debating them.
If the watchtower society isn't debated, then how do you feel they will be exposed and brought to their knees? Who is it exactly that's going to bring them down and expose them if not people such as ourselves? Are you aware of the changes within the organisation due to the exposer of them by the means of sites such as this one? Do you remember the UN case?
Do you actually think that were this site nothing more than christians being nice to them it would have one iota of an impact if debating wasn't involved? Witnesses see nice christians all the time in their lives and it means nothing to them, so seeing them here would only tell them that we have returned to the vomit and become part of the whore "Babylon the Great"
If you give the watchtower an inch, they will become a ruler. The point is, the watchtower is a cult, but do we really want to become the anti-watchtower cult?
Exactly how is debating with them ..."giving them an inch? I'm confused. I would think debating with them isn't giving them ANY room at all frankly. I think if you stick around here long enough, you'll learn that those who have exited by means of this site and others like it, did so by seeing the WTBTS exposed......not because they saw people acting like true christans......although the latter become a factor once they see the watchtower society is nothing more than a magazine publishing company
Call me crazy, but what if we could be our own support group?
That's partly what JWD is.
Maybe we could use this forum as a means to change people for the better, to be living examples of Jesus Christ without the burdons of man's rules and twisted organizations.
There are plenty here that do just that.

Silversurfer and Mike....thanks for your input and sharing your stories.....very interesting and touching
One thing to keep in mind about the way both of you were treated is that these elders you dealt with might be good men and loving men( though not always) They act on the way they are programmed to act, they ask questions the way they are taught to ask questions, they use the same literature to deal with the scenarios you both gave.
I too acted in the same manner when I too served as an elder. If an elder strays from the guidelines the society has layed down, they too can be reprimanded. These men feel and believe that the way they behave are Jehovahs ways.
They feel if if they follow the guidelines as set out by the organisation(GB), Jehovah will bless their direction and it will serve the wrongdoer in his/her best intrests. However, the directions and guidelines these Elders follow, are in REALITY not for the purpose these men believe these purposes serve....but are rather for the purpose of saving face of the organisation itself, and not intended to benifit the sheep in any way.
For example....apostates are in reality to be shunned so as not pass on the truths they have learned about the organisation itself (which the organisation realises are in fact true), yet the flock is told the reason is for the purpose of safeguarding the other publishers from outright lies.
This is the epitome of false christians to the highest degree.

Gill,
Hello darling back to you
I suppose it's natural for any group or their leaders to wonder what has happened to someone who exits them when they don't know why they exited.....but your correct in the WTBTS ALWAYS ASSUMING these ones have erred in some way rather than simply not assuming anything until they at least ask them first. because this group teaches they are the only truth on the planet, they are puzzled why one would exit any truth.

I'm gonna hafta look up what 'shunning a nutsack' actually means....lol
