Witnesess are not the only ones who do not like harry potter. There was just a show on that showed a relegios group cutting up the Harry Potter books.
I suppose if it lead kids into a intrest in witchcraft or sorcery it would not be good for a christian. But do kids think about witches and ghosts the day after holloween. I never did. -

Preston: I went to the wickenburg cong. I have given talks in peoria, phoenix, and that surrounding area. Had many different co's paul smith, Bro. special, Bro.cecil, and others. I know of quite a few families in those areas and prescott area especially chino valley.

WOW....THAT IS THE AREA I AM FROM.....WICKENBURG. I LIVED THERE 16 YEARS AND USED TO GO TO LAKE PLEASANT ALL THE TIME. WE NOW LIVE IN NORTHERN CALIF. I have a sister in mesa, mom and sisters in chino valley, and lots and lots of old witness friends still there. I wish I could see them and talk to them. Another reason I look for the downfall of the org. -

lets take a look.. i was just musing over the threads that relate to disciplining children by means of physical punishment.
there is plenty of material in the societies magazines that advocate hitting children, in the 60s publications there is even a picture of a man spanking a child.

Ashitaka: I also before becoming an elder and being young was told by the co not to allow my child to play with the neighborhood kids. She had played with them since she was 4 years old and she was 12 when he told us this. He said if we let her socialize with these girls then when she gets older and the boy thing starts, how could we stop her from associating with these WORLDLY kids. It was embarrasing for her and us to come up with excuses as to why we all the sudden had to stop her association. She was confused and so were we......but we listened.

by gumby inno federal aid will be given to organizations that ban the flag.. will this be the next legal battle for the org?

Jehovah's witnesses will handle this (in my opinion)the same way they handled voting. they will say we can't tell our members what to do,but they will hint at it strongly that a TRUE christian will stay politically neutral.
Mmetz was correct in his post that cnn announced this. They simply said that any organization that banned the display of the flag would get no federal aid.
I do not know if this would have any impact on the tax exempt status the WT has or not or if it would effect them in any way since I know of no way they are funded by the gov. -
