Have no fear Jeff----they also believe that they, and they alone have "the Truth", they practice disfellowshipping and some of their doctrines have been just as wacky and harmful as the Witnesses.
Just keep looking around various faiths long enough....and you'll see dub similarities all over the place.
Try becoming a Catholic and read the "Apostles' Creed". Their creed is just like the witnesses in that you must accept "the Holy Catholic Church and the Communion of Saints"....similar to the witnesses added Baptismal question stating an allegiance to "Gods Spirit Appointed Organisation".
Any religious system that has men or women demanding your freedom of belief in the doctrines they have deemed as god approved.......is a cult.

shannon here.... a confessed "lurker" for a very, very, long time and a rare poster to the board......i just wanted to drop a quick note to all of you.. please keep doing what you're doing..providing a refuge for so many.
you all make me feel reassured that if in 4 years from now i may have a breakdown (because deprogramming is a lifelong ailment) and need to find strength and encouragement, or even just someone to hear my story and believe me...i will always know that you are all here.
no judgment, no criticism...but instead providing a way for anyone who visits this board a little challenge at times, a large amount of humor, some psychological services...and a great big dose of the real truth.. you guys are great...you make me laugh, you make me smile and you make me feel fantastic about my decision to leave by your constant reassurance that truly living is all about thinking for yourself.. i'll be sure to start posting more regularly because i'd like to start to get to know you guys better and in turn become a source of comfort, wisdom and humor to others that have gone through what we have.. hugs to you all.. shannon.

Terry.....first of all, let me say that I think you have cute boobs for a guy of your age. I ain't gay, but if I was, I'd go out with ya at least once I'm thinkin ...just so I could look at yer boobs ta see if their really as big as they look.
That is the flaw of God's justice in dealing with humans afflicted by the "condition" of sin from birth.
Further, no born-again Christian has ever demonstrated an ability to avoid sin. Frankly, all they can do is insist how awful sin is and warn everybody what will happen to them when they succumb.
So, for all practical, rational and logical purposes it is the height of folly to discuss sin at all in terms of human behavior vis a vis punishment or accountability.
Human nature is what it is and isn't what it isn't.
(p.s. Gumby is obsessed with my man boobs! I guess we know what HIS nature is!!)
Terry....I follow you in what you are saying in that since all are born in sin, there is no choice in whether one sins or not.
The problem is....believers seperate sin. As an example we can look at an argument many use for sinning. If a christian hits their thumb with a hammer accidently and then yells....." son-of-a-bitch", then realises he said it and then asks god for forgivness.......he feels that type of sin is different than a christian man who shacks up with his girlfriend and passes off his fornication to the fact that he isn't perfect and that Jesus forgives fornicators.
What I've often wondered is this. If Jesus forgives a sinner who puts their trust in him and this person is made clean in the blood of the lamb.......then how is it they continue to die because they inherited sin from Adam? If sin brings forth death....yet sin is washed away......what brings about death?

I started to run around from Church to Church-- telling the pastors, Ministers, priests, the bible says this the bible says that....Complaining about their big $$$ signs they had up or the "BINGO" signs they had up...Asking why they didnt teach against false prophets instead of putting new carpets, or new roofs, or having "teas" or bus rides etc etc:If they really believed that the MESSAGE in scripture was "COME UNTO ME JESUS" why didnt they make that the most important message... Well then all these Churches began to call me & ask me to teach "Why we should not be involved in a cult" I did.

I did the same thing in that I asked the big wigs at churches questions about things I didn't agree with.
One day I pulled into a church parking lot as I saw the pastor doing some yard work. I said "I heard you folks think your the closest thing to truth, is that correct? If it is, I don't want to come here".
He said "no, we believe anyone who comes to christ can be saved". I said "that's what I was hoping to hear".
I had asked him that because he was a Southern Baptist and I had heard they believed that way. My point is, I wasn't afraid to ask what ever the heck I wanted to ....and it felt good.
